Should a President ever have to go to jail ? |
Should they always be pardoned by their successor? No matter how brazen their crimes? What unwritten law is there that would exempt such criminal behaviors as those that have been hoisted upon the American people by this Administration? Do not doubt for a second that they believe themselves above the law. Worse than a blue dress, they have stained our nation.

2. Our problems today are because a criminal President didn't |
go to jail. It sent a signal to his successors that they too could get away with it. Send this one to jail and send the one who pardons him to jail also. No more pardons.

3. I was very disappointed when Ford pardoned Nixon. |
Ford contended that the matter should be put behind us, but I really wanted to see that sneaky crook breaking rocks in Leavenworth. Since compared to Bush, Nixon was a lightweight, I will never be satisfied until he stands trial for war crimes at the Hague. In light of the horrendous damage he has done to this country and the world, ordinary federal prison is far too good for him and his stooges.

4. Bush needs to be in jail. He and his gang are dangerous. |
Had Reagan and his ganag of thugs been put in jail for Iran/Contra, perhaps we would not be in this nasty place.

6. I realize your question is rhetorical and the answer obviously is yes. |
But the reality is that Bush will never, ever go to jail no matter how much he richly deserves it. He may be impeached, like Clinton, but even that will not happen unless the Democrats retake the House. The final reality is that there will not be enough votes in the Senate to convict him even if he is impeached. So impeachment will be a moral victory for the Democrats, but Bush will never see the inside of any jail. Reality is a harsh mistress.

7. We are here today because |
Nixon was let off. The lesson was that there was no long term consequences for what he did. Nixon may have lived the rest of his life pretty much in seclusion but the type of politics that happened continued and grew. It let Reagan happen and daddy Bush who got away with Iran contra. There was plenty of evidence there too but President Clinton closed the books on that to let the country move on. So, no, they should not be pardoned and they should go to jail, they are not above the law or the rule of law becomes mute.
