I am tired, and I am hungry |
|
but I will not eat whatever I may find if I look into my refrigerator.
I don't want to be tired and hungry, but I will understand.
I will understand how some people have felt since the Reagan years in the 1980s. It was suddenly okay to have mentally ill people roaming the streets of America homeless. It was okay to have vietnam vets roaming the streets homeless. In America.
I am tired, and I am hungry, but I will not eat.
America, land of the homeless and the poor and the hurting.

2. Eat: we need you ready |

I appreciate the gesture. Rendering what fit Warriors we have left unfit for the coming battle only helps the enemy.

We have far too many who point fingers and say "Welll if they would only get off their butts and get a job...welll if they would only not have kids when they are out of work.welll if they would only manage their money better." Oh they have the quips alright. However the truth escapes them. People could be working full time and still not have enough for food. A family could have three kids and THEN get laid off. COmpanies pay no attention to your dependents when they hand you a pink slip. You can't manage money you don't have. A paycheck, for many, can only stretch so far after payday. Seniors who watched their money all their lives figured espenses wouldn't be what they are today, nor rents, nor medical expenses and many figured pensions would still be in the picture. Many are forced into early retirement and never regain financial momentum. We need to stop those who try to play down the issue of hunger and admit there is a problem and try to tackle the issue. If we don't have hunger why do people stand in line for hours to get a bag of food at the local food pantry? If everyone has enough cash for food why do school find they have to make sure each child is fed? If we have no need why do pantries have food drives? This issue is so big yet so many either don't believe it,ignore it or want someone else to deal with it.
