Freepers outraged over FAKE Guard attack!

Does anyone remember when a couple of years ago. Some FAKE anti-war protesters yelled "baby-killer" at some veterans in a parade. I can't remember the details but I think it was in Washington and I think the story was wrote by a black columnist. Anyway it turned out to be a FAKE story. Well, it looks like their at it again. This story goes like this... A guard was walking down the street (in uniform). A BLACK SUV with guys DRESSED IN RED pulled up beside him, asked if he was in the military. He said yes they jumped out of the BLACK SUV and beat him up. They called him a BABY KILLER (so sixties) according to RW radio.This is a totally FAKE incident and we should demand that "the victim" take a lie-detector test immediately. If you remember the last time they did this "the victim" was IN ON IT!

A uniformed National Guardsman was beaten by a strangers as he walked to a convenience store in Parkland, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department reported Wednesday. Investigators suspect the man was attacked because of his uniform. “The indication is it’s because he was a soldier,” sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. “There are some specific questions (the attackers asked) that were military related and what his involvement in the war was.” No arrests have been made in the Tuesday morning attack, and Pierce County sheriff’s deputies were seeking the public’s help in identifying the attackers. The soldier, 22, was walking on 138th Street South between A Street South and Pacific Avenue about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday when an SUV pulled up beside him, deputies reported. The driver asked the soldier if he were in the military and if he’d seen any action. The driver got out of the vehicle, pulled a gun and shouted insults at the soldier, deputies reported. Four others then got out of the vehicle, knocked the soldier to the ground, and punched and kicked him. The five attackers then got back into the black SUV and drove away. The soldier suffered minor injuries and did not receive medical treatment. The attackers did not take anything from him, Troyer said. The driver of the vehicle was described as a white man, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and with a heavy build. He had short, blond hair and wore a black T-shirt and jeans. The passengers were young men. Some wore red baseball hats and red sweatshirts.

On the drive in this morning the radio gave more details. One of the insults thrown at him was him being called a "baby killer. It also sounds like the passengers had a more active role than what the printed story suggest. It also appears they were somewhat dressed the same with the red hats and sweatshirts. What’s up with that? I hope the Peirce County Prosecutor seeks a “hate crime” charge if ever these anti-war thugs are arrested. The soldier was a black man but the hate crime had nothing to do with race, no this hate was the hate of a man in uniform.

I always thought those comments were very ironic considering the source. The source is almost always anti-war nuts, which are also liberals. The funny part is, these same people will go to war to protect abortion. Liberals and their pro-abortion policies have killed more babies then all the military people in the history of the world combined.

The term 'hate-crime' should just be removed from any legal consideration. For any non-accidental act where violence is involved, there is always a level of hate. Noone would ever say they wanted to hurt the victim because they liked him a lot.

True, but the legislature has determined that certain crimes that were motivated by hate against identifiable groups of people deserve special punishment.

Personally, I think virtually all of our punishments are too low anyway, so any excuse to jack them up is fine with me.

Now, I'm not a big fan of the hate crime consideration when determining jail sentences, but in the liberal NW that is the only way these thugs will get the maximum jail time and little sympathy.

Well you just wondered when their true colors would show. Apparently Bainbridge Island, Washington, a suburb of Seattle, is the first to let the mask slip:

Sorry for the visceral reaction, but been there, heard this, not going to let it happen again.

To all you who would blame the soldier, sailor, Marine and airman for policies you disagree with, enjoy your freedom to do so. But remember something. Just as you have the absolute right to scream those horrific epithets at that young soldier, you enjoy that right because of him and the sacrifices he's made.

You assholes did this too a whole generation of soldiers once ... my generation. A generation who was told "don't wear your uniforms off post" because it might cause a problem. Who were told to down play the fact that they were soldiers. To only go to places soldiers frequent. To stay on base when at all possible.

Well you know what, not this time. If I'm EVER at an event where this sort of thing takes place I will, without hesitation, engage you verbally and I will shout you down. I doubt that I can make you ashamed, and it is certain you won't understand, but by God it'll make me feel better and it'll make the point that there are some of us out here who will NEVER let this happen again to our servicemembers like it did when I was a young soldier.

And you can take that to the bank!

Something else that really irks me is that, to verbally attack our soldiers like that is both dishonest and cowardly.

If you really thought somebody was a murderer and a baby killer, would you actually accost them on the street? After all, if they really were that kind of psychopath, why wouldn't they attack or kill you? Baby killing murderers are, after all, reputed to be notoriously unstable.

No, the fact is that these scum know that the soldier they are accosting is neither. He's just a 23 year-old kid who is serving his country, and who has the discipline to refrain from physically--or probably even verbally--engaging his attackers. They know, with a fairly high degree of assurance, that attacking this kid is perfectly safe. That makes it even more contemptible.

Like McQ, if I ever see something like this, I will come down on the offender verbally like a ton of bricks. I will also hope, with every fiber of my my being, that the offender takes a swing at me.

I agree with you, McQ. Those people yelling those things are obviously confused. It's like that boy who had aids in Florida 15 years ago. A mob of haters burned down his house. They would have been more effective in burning down the White House.

Those in power are the ones who wage war. Those in power are the ones today--as well as yesterday-- that put these men and women in harm's way based on a lie. They are the ones the hecklers should be shouting at.

Problem with this analysis is that the ability to make this connection implies a degree of rational thought that, if they possessed it, they would also be capable of discerning that this soldier is not the one who started the war in the first place.

No, these people are simply dumb as a box of hair. These people are the reason that the tiger cages at modern zoos are enclosed in glass rather than iron bars.

28. What the story does NOT reveal

#1: This area of Tacoma is where a transient military population is most heavily represented. There's a disproportionately high military crime rate here which has historically been a community problem. Civilian/military relations have never been that great around here. The Rangers once had a shootout with drug dealers during a BBQ in this town! Most of the people who live in that area of Tacoma have ties to the military (including the kids).

#2: South Tacoma area has a recent history of random attacks on college students at Pacific Lutheran Univ. In these attacks, thugs in SUVs followed the same MO of targetting innocent people and beating them up. There is plenty of gang activity around this area including near weekly drive-by shootings. Roving gangs of black teens have killed several people recently in similar random attacks, so this incident may be "retaliation" or "copycat" behavior by white gang wannabes. A black man walking in this area of Tacoma would stand a very good chance of running into teens with disgusting racist attitudes. They probably targetted him for being a black man walking in their neighborhood rather than because he was in uniform. Most of these thugs could care less who they targetted.

#3: Red is one of the colors of the high school closest to the place where the attack occurred. The Franklin Pierce Cardinals. Might be where I'd focus my investigation if I were the cops. All the high schools have ROTC programs. It was ROTC students who were responsible for ripping up hundreds of Kerry signs during the 2004 election. They were caught red-handed.

#4: Young people such as these are NOT the ones I see at the protests and demonstrations in town which are by and large being attended by gray-haired church ladies, mostly from the NON-MILITARY part of town. There are vocal groups of rightwing "protest warriors" who show up to taunt protestors with counterprotest signs however. COINTELPRO is alive and well.

#5: The last few "hate crimes" reported in this town turned out to be hoaxes. People claiming that someone broke in their homes and covered the walls with racial or homophobic crap turned out to have committed the crimes themselves.

Yeah, I am waiting for them to catch these thugs. Bet they all come from prominent families with GOP connections. I don't believe for a second anyone in the peace movement was responsible. But I do believe there are people who would like to make it APPEAR as if that were the case.

The movie also debunks the intractable "Myth of the Spitting Hippie." You know, it goes like this: valiant GIs return home to America-hating dirty hippies and are spat upon on the tarmac. Tediously wading through media accounts of the era, the producers cannot find a single instance of any such spitting; though the lie can be traced directly to Sylvester "Rambo" Stallone's whiney use of it in the 1982 movie First Blood. Returning soldiers first arrived at military airfields, not the San Francisco airport of the myth in the first place! Sure, they weren't welcomed home with marching bands and all; but the real disgrace ever since has been the abandonment of Viet vets by the government, not the public.

The spitting legend was and is an integral part of the government's playing the "kicking Vietnam Syndrome" card to justify it's later incursions in Central America and today in the Middle East. The fable was amplified during the 1990 run-up to the Middle East Wars, as was the erasure of the very history of this ground-breaking and vital GI movement.

In 1991, after the end of the Persian Gulf stage of the Middle East wars, President Poppy Bush weirdly said, "The ghosts of Vietnam have been laid to rest beneath the sands of the Arabian desert." Former Assistant Secretary of State and Kerry campaign advisor Richard Holbrooke accused Bill Clinton of caving into "Vietmalia Syndrome" when Bubba quickly withdrew all troops from Somalia after the disastrous Battle of Mogadishu in 1993. (This fixation with how the public views ineffective military actions undoubtedly cost Holbrooke the Secretary of State job when Clinton replaced Madeline Albright with Warren Christopher in 1997 --- not that "Vietmalia Syndrome" stopped Clinton from blasting the Balkans.)

Just a few months into the disastrous Iraq occupation, General Ricardo Sanchez angrily asserted, "It's not Vietnam and there's no way that you can make the comparison to the quagmire of Vietnam."

A Story No longer Untold

Out of the over 100 movies to date about Vietnam, not a one tells the history of the GI anti-war movement. None mentions the heroic account of navy nurse Susan Schnall, who was jailed after dropping anti-war leaflets from a plane over the Presidio. None tell the story of Greg Payton (and comrades), one of the organizers of the LBJ revolt. None tell of Dr. Howard Levy who served three years in jail for refusing to train troops --- or the many others who tell their stories here.

See this necessary documentary. Better yet, buy the DVD and send it to an active duty GI you know. Heroic GIs helped stop US war crimes in SE Asia once before and they could well do it again in the current madness.
