there's some funny ones here though... http://www.shmater.com/georgeandlaurabushthelostphotos49.htmlEven if it's photoshopped it pretty much sums his whole "presidency" up though, doesn't it?

2. Bush is not a wartime anything |
|
We are not "at war" in the first place and, since he seized power by subverting the democratic process, he does not deserve the title of president.

7. Polk actually started the Mexican War... |
|
...on dubious pretenses. He massed the American army at the US/Mexican border to incite the Mexicans to attacking, thus precipitating the great land grab of what is now the American Southwest.

12. I believe then he got rather nervous about... |
|
at least one of his Generals did he not, was it Zachary Taylor? They wanted to take Mexico City, but he was afraid they might install themselves as Dictators and set up a banana republic, so he called them back.

16. The parallels are amazing... |
|
...in the first Gulf War, Bush I could have taken Baghdad then but ended the war when the objectives of the UN Resolution was reached. We could have had Schwartzkopf march into Baghdad back in '91, and had this fiasco 15 years ago, but give Bush the Elder credit for restraint. Unfortunately, the son refuses to learn from the father.
Back in the 1840's the doctrine was "Manifest Destiny" which professed that we, as Americans, had a right to all land between the Atlantic and Pacific coasts and its what mainly drove the rationale for the Mexican War.

17. But we should never forget... |
|
...that the escalation of Vietnam was on the Democratic Party's watch. LBJ escalated the war also on dubious grounds by positioning naval vessels very close to the Vietnamese coast in the Gulf of Tonkin, inciting the North Vietnamese into firing upon them thus giving LBJ a rationale for escalation.
But even though the two examples I cite are dubious grounds for war at best, there has NEVER been a premeditated, preemptive attack by the US on another country before 2003. Bush, by being the first president to use this doctrine, has allied himself with some "great" company (Hitler first comes to mind)

6. Truman should be there too. |
|
Truman kept letters from angry parents of fallen soldiers in the Korean War in his desk and read them routinely. He did not shy away from criticism and always cared about our troops.

8. Dumbass pretzelnuts needs to watch the documentary from FSTV |
|
I watched last night. The one with the British journalist in Iraq in '04. One very poignant segment showed Iraqi suicide bomber preparing for his 'mission', interviews with the American soldiers, some of whom would be killed by the bomber, and then actual footage of the attack. It quickly dispels the myth I heard from my Repug relatives that "they LOVE us over there".

if nothing else Truman always faced up to responsibility, "The buck stops here", as opposed to the chimp who says "the buck bounces off me and right back onto you, nyah nyah".
