Wonder what Rep. Bobby Jindal (R-LA01) thinks about "macaca"?
That'd actually be Piyush "Bobby" Jindal, to my knowledge the only House member of Indian descent. His burning desire -- and he's ambitious in a way that makes Newt Gingrich look like a paperboy -- is to become governor of La., which would presumably place him at the next RNC alongside Sen. Allen (assuming Webb fails to kick his ass!). Picture it:

"And I'd like to give a warm welcome to Governor Macaca, or whatever his name is. Welcome to America!"

You'd think Jindal would have had something to say about Macacagate, wouldn't you? Apparently they really treat Reagan's "Eleventh Commandment", "Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican", as an actual commandment. Then again, they treat Reagan himself as though he were actually God. :puke:

Can you imagine a Dem, say David Wu from Oregon, staying silent if some misguided Dem said "Mr. Chink, or whatever his name is"?! Of course, most Dems who would say that switched to repuke long ago, but I digress...

You're so right.

edit to add: Why don't you call up Jindal's office and ask them? I would but I'm too lazy today.

3. I was amazed when Jindal did not win the governorship
in the last election. I know LA is full of right-wingers, just as red as red can be. But, Kathleen Blanco won, even tho she was a Dem and, (gasp!)a woman!! How can that be? I think these red-neck mouth breathers down here just would not vote for someone whose skin is as dark as Jindal's is. I think it was racism, pure and simple. While I am glad Jindal did not win, as he is to the right of cheney, I don't think he has a chance to win the Governorship here in LA....because of his skin color.

Unable to get his wife to the hospital in time, Jindal recently delivered his and his wife's baby himself.

4. I think he will
If Blanco wasn't so regressive on abortion, Jindal would have won. I think he will probably beat her in 2007. He comes up to north LA constantly to very positive reception.

I heard rumor that Breaux might run for Governor, any chance?

5. I have heard that rumor too
but don't know if he would give up his lucrative lobbyist position for the lowly pay of governor. I kinda doubt that Kathleen will run again, just a hunch, nothing to go on. I think the Dems will run a very conservative white man, and he will win against Jindal. (But then, I don't know a whole hell of a lot.)
