1. If they are, it's probably because he deserves it |
|
Franken is a big reason why AAR has survived. He deserves the most money of all the on air personalities.

the whole thing about Malloy's firing being a "financial decision" doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Wasn't he only making $80,000/year? That's a decent income, but on a extreme low side for a nationally-broadcast commercial radio talk show host.

14. A radio financial decision would not have much to do with salary |
|
It's all about how much ADVERTISING dollars he is able to bring in... a host's salary is chump-change in comparison to the advertising revenue.

Franken's contract was negotiated long before Mike Malloy joined AAR, so I don't think it is fair to blame Franken for what has happened.

8. Apparently Franken just signed a new contract |
|
for 2 million and expenses for running his show from MN which was estimated to take it up to 3 million - but I don't think this contract had anything to do with Mike - this decision was not financial as in Mike's salary - more like sponsors being to scared to support Mike's show or something else along those lines....
and I think Franken SUCKS and SO doesn't deserve 2 million bucks - but I can see that he did help get AAR established..

4. What makes you think Al Franken is a factor in any of this? |
|
And why just him? Why not, say, Rachel Maddow?

I got canned in radio so they could split my job and give one person 10k more a year and employ someone part time they didn't have to give 2 weeks paid vacation to.

7. When AAR said they are dropping Malloy for "financial reasons," I think |
|
it means that some sponsor was complaining. I'm guessing that Franken or Springer would command a higher salary than Malloy.

10. Malloy is the lowest paid of all the regular hosts on AAR and |
|
they put him in an awful time slot, 10pm-1am ET. As I stated before, I am a minority owner of AAR and I am not on the board of directors. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/sheldon-drobny/mike-malloy-and-andy-roon_b_28437.html

12. If there were any "FCC Fines" against AAR |
|
every hungry ACLU lawyer with visions of a Federal Judgeship under a Democratic President and Senate would be racing to represent Malloy. It would be a barristical stampede.
Lawyers are adept at "smelling blood" under the US system.

|
sending the on air personalities to AAR affiliates around the country more, to help promote Air America Radio...I heard him trashing the "suits" about a week ago on his own show....I agree with Mike...
