My brother did a radio interview.. this is a great story
He's a HS basketball coach in MT. This is a really inspirational story about something that happened during one of the games he coached in. Nearly brought me to tears. It's only a few minutes long but it's heartwarming.

Give coach Wetzel a big hug from in_cog_ni_to! That has got to be the sweetest thing any coach has ever done. You must be proud a very proud brother.:)

2. Thank you so much.
I am a cut-throat competitor who needs a little grounding exercise every once in a while.

This one will last for some time. Bully for your brother.

Go, Travis.

I'm nearly psychotically competitive, so is he, that's why it surprised me so much to know that he did something like that. Puts stuff in perspective, doesn't it? :)

5. Thanks for that WB. Folks in other areas might not appriciate the balls
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 01:12 PM by havocmom
it takes a coach for a small town basketball team to tell his men to back off and allow the other team to score. Basketball in most towns here is a religon and townfolks can make life hell if a coach does something which costs points.

This was an act of genuine honor and sportsmanship. Those kids learned a very important lesson about being human.

Your bro's A-OK!

Oh, and you have mail.

edit: typo

8. oh yes in small towns
the only thing they have sometimes is HS sports. People are rabid about that stuff.

Yup, I replied back to you etc. :)

Thank you SO much for posting this! When someone is becoming cynical about the human condition, one needs only to listen to this to know it is alive and thrives. Thank you, again, for posting this, it has MADE my day!

Even 'jerks' sometimes have a heart. Maybe the jerk act is just a facade! LOL! He can't be all bad if he could find it within himself to do something like this.

at least of an older generation - tend to associate with Americans: the regular "ordinary" Americans, of course (not the far right-wing riff-raff. And I believe the Aussies and Kiwis tend to share the same regard for you lot.

I've seen a fair few examples of similar acts of great kindness by the "average" Joe and Jane, on cable TV, for that matter.
