Impeachment Vigils

September 1, 2006

Progressive Democrats of America and After Downing Street encourage you
to hold a vigil for impeachment on Friday evening, Sept. 1st,
preceded or followed by a meeting to dicuss and plan for Camp Democracy.

Enter your event into online system HERE.
http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/

Search for an event already planned in your area HERE.
http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/

Here are resources from Camp Democracy.

You can also download and play this new 16-minute video from After Downing Street.

Here's what's happening online the same day:

Starting at noon ET

on September 1, 2006,

and lasting 24 hours,

websites and blogs all across the internet are being asked
to replace their front pages with the single word "Impeach"
in simple white text on a black background.

Here's an example: http://impeachnet.net

Visitors to those sites and blogs will be able to click and link to the sites' usual front pages.
But first they will see a word that, standing alone, is as powerful as any word right now:
it is banned by our political and media leadership
but more popular among citizens and activists than perhaps any other.
It is both shocking and welcome.

For 24 hours, web surfers and blog readers will see that word first
when they visit their favorite sites.
In this way, we hope to get the public talking about the one tool
guaranteed by the Founders to restore our Constitutional Democracy.

Please encourage your favorite websites to take part in this action.

If you plan to take part, please let us know here:
http://www.impeachnet.net/blog/contact

:bluebox: Beginning September 5th, we will launch a non-partisan camp
for peace, democracy, and the restoration of the rule of law.
Camp Casey will move from Crawford, Texas, to Washington, D.C.,
to create a larger camp focused not only on ending the war but
also on righting injustices here at home and on holding accountable
the Bush Administration and Congress.

There are 2,641 GOOD REASON'S TO JOIN IN!!

:bluebox: Make a sign and put it on your front lawn or on your car!!

4. Is W. still in the White House?
The Bush administration is:

70.12 percent over!!!

Let's Make it 100% Percent!!

Is W. still in the White House? If you're counting the days nervously, this web page can help...

Every day it calculates how much of George W. Bush's administration has already passed

as a percentage of his eight year, or 2922 day, term.

Whether you're counting the days of illegitimacy, savoring your party's glorious return to power,

or standing outside the White House chanting

"He's not President!

.... He's not President!"

over and over again --- you'll want to know how many days are left!

10. Transportation
The transportation link provided by camp democracy is not very informative, have you heard of any other boards or links for transportation?

11. I'm sorry but
I haven't. It did say that if you needed 'extra' help; to go ahead and email them.
I went last september and I believe you could try:

http://www.unitedforpeace.org/

THIS FALL, WE DECLARE PEACE!

Join United for Peace and Justice in Raising the Political Costs of the War

It's time to answer fear with courage, to step out

of our personal comfort zones and take bold action to end the Iraq War.

Join us in a week of nonviolent action, including civil disobedience,

from September 21-28,

and in pressuring pro-war politicians all this fall through the Voters for Peace pledge.

Take Action to End the US War and Occupation in Iraq!

http://www.declarationofpeace.org/

The Declaration of Peace is a nationwide campaign to establish

by September 21, 2006 a concrete and rapid plan for peace in Iraq,

including:

* a prompt timetable for withdrawal of troops and closure of bases
* a peace process for security, reconstruction, and reconciliation
* and the shift of funding for war to meeting human needs.

If this plan for peace is not created and activated by Congress by September 21,

the International Day of Peace,

Declaration signers across the U.S. will engage in nonviolent action in Washington, D.C.

and in communities throughout the nation.

http://declarationofpeace.org/congressional-declaration-of-peace

From September 21-28, just days before Congress adjourns for the fall elections,
Declaration signers will take action – and support a comprehensive peace process –
by taking part in nonviolent action, marches, rallies, demonstrations,
interfaith services, candlelight vigils and other creative ways

to declare peace at the U.S. Capitol and in cities and towns across the country.
