Air America Radio: Now on WWRL? WTF? Where's Rachel?
I just finally found a really bad signal for AAR 1600, and it's Sam Greenfield & Armstrong Williams? Where's Rachel? This is pathetic. The ads are really amateuristic. And I can't even get them to come in on my clock radio. I'll try on the car radio, but, if it sounds as bad as my stereo, forget it. I'm off AAR.

Maybe the talk of the demise of AAR was warranted. This is really sad. To think I used to get Marc Maron really clear every morning.

I'm depressed.

2. You missed Rachel explain this on air yesterday
she will only be off the air in New York and only until Sept. 18. On that date she will be back on nationally in the evening hours which she is excited about because she can sleep.

3. What do you think of Rachel Maddow?
I just can't warm to her. I hate the way she deliberately and fakily works her voice inflection up and down like some sort of ocean swell. And I'm not sure she leans very far to the left. But when they canned Maron, I had no desire to turn AAR on in the morning.

Am I being too harsh?

13. My husband says the inflection is amateuristic and would be easily
fixed with a couple of voice lessons. I think it's a California thing - she is from the SF Bay Area.

What I really, really like about her, and what seems to set her apart from other news readers on the air, is that she's intelligent and upbeat. She doesn't go on endless rants, she weilds facts like a sword. She has a sense of humor about herself. Her guests take her seriously, and she is a pretty good interviewer. She has live musicians on her show.

I really don't like how she nags her producers on air in the name of 'keeping it real'.

5. Major schedule shakeup
Morning.

Yes, the good Dr. Maddow is off the air in NYC until September 18. As part of the deal switching stations, they inherited the existing morning show, and Dr. Maddow won't be back until she moves to her new timeslot.

She is still on 7-9 nationally, try streaming from another station if you can. Or there's always the podcast.

There's a discussion going on about all the schedule changes at Air America Place, which is the official fansite of Air America Radio.

7. Cool, thanks for the AAR Place link.
I am a major fan of the station, and listen all day.

Rachel Maddow is great... I think she is one of the best hosts on the station. Her news analysis is positively brilliant.

I saw an article recently that said she does something like 6 hours of preparation, for a two hour broadcast. It shows!!!!

8. Give the show a try. Sam Greenfield is interesting, innovative,
and gifted in rhetoric. Armstrong is a counterpoint. I've been listening to Sam since 1998 when he first joined WEVD (which ironically went off the air five years ago today).

Give him a chance.

11. Rachel is great! Her history is very interesting. She is NOT a moderate
From the AAR website:

Rachel Maddow Rachel Maddow is the host of "The Rachel Maddow Show" on Air America Mornings. Air America Radio is the national liberal talk radio network -- her show currently airs in more than 40 markets nationwide. Rachel is also the liberal foil to Tucker Carlson on MSNBC's "The Situation". She has a doctorate in political science and a background in HIV/AIDS activism, prison reform, and other assorted rabblerousing. She lives in New York City and Western Massachusetts with her partner, artist Susan Mikula.

Rachel has worked hard as an activist helping prisoners with HIV and other terminal illnesses.
