WorldNutDaily: Evangelist drowns trying to walk on water
Pastor reportedly told congregation he could repeat miracle of Jesus

An evangelist who tried replicating Jesus' miracle of walking on water has reportedly drowned off the western coast of Africa.

Pastor Franck Kabele, 35, told his congregation he could repeat the biblical miracle, and he attempted it from a beach in Gabon's capital of Libreville.

"He told churchgoers he'd had a revelation that if he had enough faith, he could walk on water like Jesus," an eyewitness told the Glasgow Daily Record.

"He took his congregation to the beach saying he would walk across the Komo estuary, which takes 20 minutes by boat. He walked into the water, which soon passed over his head and he never came back."

As a Christian, I find this obscene.

1. Now that's really sick
This man actually believed he could do what Jesus did? I agree, that is obscene to do something like that. These evangelicals think they are on the same level as God.

38. Actually, He Had a Right to Expect That
According to the Gospel of Mark:
17And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."
Doesn't specifically mention walking on water, but it seems like a reasonable extrapolation. Those verses are kind of an embarrassment to the modern churn, and are mostly cited by Pentacostal groups. But there they are.

7. Delusional
OK, that's kind of funny... If he didn't actually die, I'd be laughing my ass off.

I wonder if anyone tried to talk him out of it. Especially since he obviously couldn't swim.

Is he going to be the Darwin award winner this year?

29. It's either

The person suffers from Hyper-religion which is a mental condition. Or is too stupid to understand Christianity or the nature of God and thinks that by having faith God is going to provide an extravagant miracle simply for his amusement. Pretty sad either way.

32. What a sad waste of life.
We are all gifted with the ability to reason. If this gift was given to one, would it not make sense that one should use it rather than throw it away on blind faith and superstition? Wasting such a gift is a big waste, indeed.

...maybe something about how there should have been an extra verse in that part of the Bible: "And as the son of man stepped uponeth the waters he looked back, waggéd his finger and said, 'Kids, don't tryeth this at home.'"

In his words "IF I have enough faith, I can walk on water." Wouldn't that mean he didn't have enough faith?

or maybe he had too much.

Maybe he should have started with loaves and fishes -- a bit less dangerous.
