BP shuts down major Alaskan oil pipeline and prices fall? |
|
Hey, call me stupid, but with less supply, doesn't the demand raise prices?????
Were not we just told weeks ago that the price of gasoline was expected to rise due to the BP shutdown?
Isn't our 'media' in the least bit inquisitive about the drop in gas prices??? Naw, guess not.

3. Yep. 2 words: Election Year. |
|
They'll go right back up again after the elections. When the Dems win Congress, the rising gas prices will be blamed on them. It's a setup I tell you.

The oil industry is a cartel (API) within a cartel (OPEC).
And this is classic cartel behavior - brice fixing through (1) price leadership, and (2) conscious parallel action - to keep their "team" (Bush, Cheney) in power

5. I heard that the demand has dropped significantly, thus |
|
causing the price to drop. (via a cnn link on aar.)
Otherwise we are only 67 days away from the elections. hmmmmmmmmm.

They will raise shortly after the election. If the Dems win, they will be blamed. If the Repukes win, the calls for domestic drilling will be renewed.

9. $ drop must be due to all those new refineries making gas... |
|
What? No new refineries? But, but I thought that was why gas was so high...
Must be all that Iraqi oil that was gonna pay for the invasion/occupation. Iraqi oil hit the market and caused a glut so prices fell...
What? Iraqi oil isn't being sold to pay for the way?
But you're right, fuel costs going down. Oh, gettin closer to November and the GOP trailing badly in the polls. If they aren't close enough they can't steal the elections credibly.
OK, now I understand.
