Constitution Day 2006
Edited on Fri Sep-01-06 01:58 PM by Debau2005
I received this in an email a few moments ago:

"Constitution Day 2006 will be celebrated nationally on Monday, September 18.

The official observance of Constitution Day was established by Congress in
the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2005. Part of the Act states that
"Each educational institution that receives Federal funds . . . shall hold
an educational program on the U. S. Constitution on September 17 of such
year. . . ."; Since the official date, September 17, is a Sunday this year,
Constitution Day will be observed on September 18.

Included in the Constitution Day resources available from the Federal
Judicial Center is a recording of a discussion on judicial independence with
Justice Anthony Kennedy, Justice Stephen Breyer, and retired Justice Sandra
Day O'Conner."

So in this bill:

was this the enacting of a Constitution Day. I personally think a day of reading and studing the Constitution in schools is a good thing. Although I find it odd that a government that has fought to squash our consitutional rights would have enacted such a concept!!

Is it me or is this whole thing a laughable attempt at the conservatives to the American Sheople that we have a Constitution, but don't worry about using it, just read it and then file it in your "this is history" file?!

1. What is left to celebrate?
They have stolen everything that the Constitution stood for.

2. Regardless of the political puffery behind this day,
I'm glad that schools will focus on this important document...Constitution Day should be celebrated as much as Independence Day IMHO...
