Frame: Bush mis-understands the enemy! |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-01-06 07:56 PM by LuckyTheDog
How to frame the "Islamic fascist" thing"
Clearly, Bush and Co. are stuck in the past, fighting a long-ago war against a long-gone enemy instead of fighting the war we face now.
We face a determined group of Islamic fundamentalist radicals who seek to establish a theocratic Muslim caliphate. They are not "fascists," they are nothing like fascists. In many ways they are worse. But they simply do not share the goals of the fascists, which included the creation of a "corporate state." They also don't operate like fascists or think like them. We can't defeat them if we act as if they do.
If we want to defeat the enemy, we need to understand the enemy. Pretending that they are a bunch of goose-stepping followers of Benito Mussolini won't give us the edge we need.
We need leaders willing to engage and defeat the enemy we face now, not the enemy of 60 years ago.
The Democrats know this. And we are determined to defeat the Islamic fundamentalist radicals.

run for president by saying
#1 : terrorists are to be fought primarily by police work, intelligence and seldom militarily #2 : Iraq was a mistake, we pull back and assess damage controll for reconstruction (by using the money intelligently and not private profit) #3 : all military aid to Israel is stopped until they return to the borders they negotiate with the Palestinians. #4 : Iran can have nuclear power, provided they accept international control #5 : US aid goes to provide Arab and African masses with basic help
within 2-3 years fundamentalism is completely isolated by its own base. They lack arguments.
Try that and see if you are elected

a problem they didn't mis-identify. Whether by design or by accident. But your analogy is perfect. They can call Islamic Fundamentalism "Fascism", but that doesn't make it so. It's still Islamic Fundamentalism. If you come down with a case of measles, you don't treat it with the medicine for toenail fungus. If your doctor diagnoses your pneumonia as appendicitis, you wouldn't have very much faith in your doctor. Same thing applies with our supposed leaders. If ya can't trust them to tell you the truth or properly appraise a given situation and apply the proper remedy, they are not worth keeping around.
