Let's say Rummy, in a sudden flash of insight, resigns--
who do we get?
Will all-purpose C*ndi switch into Secretary of Defense? Wolfowitz? Or will they draw from the Chiefs of Staff?
Any change would allow for two things. The new SOD can shrug shoulders and silently point the finger back at Rummy. It will refocus the war criticism where it belongs--directly at the Chimp.

2. I think that is a real possibility, and may be one reason why
Democrats are really pushing this before the election.
