HEADLINE: Condoleezza Rice gets R & R in Sun Valley "getaway"
Edited on Fri Sep-01-06 08:38 PM by Bluebear
Well, isn't that special. I wonder if the men and women she lied into war are "playing golf and tennis and eating in regional restaurants". And certainly, world events are calm enough to allow the Secretary of State her "getaway". :sarcasm:

Condoleezza Rice gets R & R in Sun Valley getaway

KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is keeping a low profile during a visit to the Sun Valley area of central Idaho for several days, planning excursions in the outdoors but no public events.

Sun Valley Police Chief Cam Daggett says Rice arrived Tuesday afternoon and is staying at a private residence.

Rice has friends in the region, and plans to play golf, tennis, run on trails around the resort and eat at the region's restaurants, according to a State Department spokeswoman in Washington, D.C.

Last summer, Rice's boss, President Bush, vacationed several valleys to the west, at Tamarack Resort near tiny Donnelly, Idaho.

1. Sounds boring.
The last place I would choose for a vacation is Idaho.

5. Well, I agree with you about Ketchum unless you have lot's
of money. However, There are many breathtakingly beautiful wilderness locations in Idaho, especially in the Panhandle, to vacation and they are very reasonable in price.

When my husband was well, we spent summers there and in Yellowstone or Montana or Eastern Washington. I do hope though that the neo-con assholes don't find these places to go to. They don't deserve to have anything nice IMHO. Also, they will probably buy up all the real estate, clear cut the forests and pave it.

6. Sun Valley is beautiful.
First ski resort built in this country (Union Pacific/A. Harriman). Year-round population is under 2,000.

I like the summer (trout fishing/canoing/horseback riding) better than ski season - too many people in the winter.

Ok - so it is mostly a bunch of rich Repugs but just do the outdoor stuff.

7. I've been to Sun Valley a few times...
... and if Rice is there, she must be the only black person in town (except for the ones they import from Ketchum and surrounding cities to perform yard work, construction work, etc.)

Sun Valley is the whitest place I've been in my life.

12. Hailey, a little further south
Don't forget that Sun Valley is one of the few Blue areas in an otherwise neon red state. John Kerry seems to like the area, he has a home there.
