Franken on Letterman tonight--will he mention Malloy?
I'm guessing it won't even come up. Malloy's not on the mainstream's radar screen at all.

The networks, even if they still have something of a liberal bias, have always been hostile to the far Left.

I wonder--did Malloy get canned because AirAmerica wants to move towards the center to reach a larger audience? That would explain why he had such a sorry time slot in the first place, and why AirAmerica is willing to take so much heat and lose so much goodwill among leftist (as opposed to liberal) listeners.

Franken is much more moderate (you might even say, electable) than most of the AirAmerica lineup and would benefit both commercially and politically if AirAmerica became more moderate in tone.

Here's an SAT-type analogy that may sum up the situation and, potentially, its relevance to future Senate battles--

Malloy:Franken::Lamont:Leiberman

Satire as thick as a president's skull

2. Firstly, it wouldn't make sense for Al Franken to discuss
Edited on Fri Sep-01-06 09:53 PM by Eric J in MN
...the firing of a radio host which most of David Letterman's office has never heard of.

Secondly, Al Franken has been critical of Joseph Lieberman, and it isn't fair to equate them. (Franken didn't like Lieberman's comment about how critics of Bush shouldn't diminish Bush's credibility.)

3. Nope.. most people don't even know who Malloy is
and Franken is still employed by AAR.. It would not be a smart thing to do.

4. Letterman Tapes his Friday Shows .....
He does 2 shows on either Monday or Tuesday ... and the second show is taped for the Friday show.

I doubt he would have mentioned it anyway .... but it was already taped before it happened.

Buddy Hackett joke that Dave told. No, the joke I'm referring too was one that Franken claimed was too offensive for SNL. ;)

11. It's terribly terribly tasteless
Nevertheless, I believe it to be the perfect joke. Anyone can tell this joke yet it is wonderfully sublime.

14. Which one?
I loved the joke Dave told for Al tonight. That's a Buddy Hackett joke. The joke I'm referring to is another one that Al wrote way back in the seventies.

16. Franken & his ego cares about no one but himself, certainly not anyone
Edited on Sat Sep-02-06 04:02 AM by LaPera
at Air America Radio...Whatever he can promote about himself is ALL that matters to the dry & boring Franken...Malloy was a thorn for him that he'd rather not discuss, (Malloy is a real liberal & a radio pro, good riddance and happy mediocrity is the AAR direction, good thing for the showboat Franken) cuz he's a "star" and loves his beloved management for keeping and giving him the prime time radio slot...Franken really believes he's that good...not the slot...Give anyone (Randi, Malloy, Hartmann) that time slot and it would explode with higher ratings...He gets paid the huge bucks and believes his selected press clippings as gospel...He cares about no one else, he's a heavy over-blown anchor for AAR, but tell that to the idiot "suits" at AAR who understand nothing about radio and time slots, only cosmetics as the current CEO former job was all about. Pathetic...I really used to like the guy as a comic.

17. Malloy
Too bad if people didn't know Malloy, as he was one of the best voices we had. I think the Bush/Cheney Cabal snuffed out Malloy. On wed. he played tapes of Laura Bush calling it hurricane CORINA (2 differnet times) and bashed her and her mother-in-law deservedly. Another example of democracy dying in front of our eyes.
