Dreams sometimes don't come true
The past 6 years have proven that.

Temporarily.

Nothing lasts forever.

Never ending war against imaginary foes can't last forever. It just can't.

Fear is a word that most of us recognize to be related to us personally. Not some generalized "fear" against a boogyman.

Sometimes dreams do come true.

It just takes a while.

Sometimes.

Peace.

1. Imaginary foes?
I get the jist of your post, but not the "imaginary foes" part.

2. Then, for "imaginary foes", just put in "abstract nouns" instead.
Maybe that'll help explain what the OP means.

And yes, I too believe that at least 75% of these horrible terrorists we keep hearing about aren't actually real. But what better tool to keep the sheeple locked safely in their pen?

3. Any time one is to fear someone or something
that they have no direct knowledge of, it's great propaganda to try to make them fear the indirect boogeyman. They are imaginary, until the media tells one and all to fear. And........then gives them a reason to fear...........

4. What?
According to your logic, Bush ignoring the PDB before 9-11 was okay, since these foes were just imaginary.

There are people who wish us harm in real-life. Ignoring that is not the solution, quite obviously.

5. I think we must be on different wavelengths
"There are people who wish us harm in real-life"

It's been that way since grade school. I didn't know at the time that we should call them terrorists. I just thought of them as stupid shits.

Peace, and yes

I can sometimes be a

dumbo

7. The guys who set the WTC bomb in '93 weren't stupid shits
And they came back to finish the job.

I understand the political dimensions, but please ... the world has gotten a lot smaller and oceans no longer protect us.

8. They were stupid shits

Unfortunately, we had stupider shits in the FBI handling the case.
We had a paid "informant" - he wanted to use an inert powder in the bomb,
his FBI stupid shit handlers told him to use the real stuff.
He realized his FBI handlers were stupid shits, that they would use him as a patsy to CYA, so he recorded his phone conversations with them.
The audio of the phone conversations used to be on the web,
you can tell a lot from the tonality which is not apparent from the transcript.

edit: wiki has links to mp3's of the phone conversations,
you really need to listen to these:

Maybe you didn't hear any of the right-wing hate radio after Katrina,
when "people who wish us harm" said the people in New Orleans deserved it.
Fuck you.
