The Republican Party stands naked before the world.
All they needed was the opportunity. When they won the House and Senate and took control of the White House, they got that "opportunity". Their dreams had come true. Cut taxes. Bring Jesus back into the classrooms. Demolish Social Security. Use the military to take whatever resources we need. Give everything to the wealthy and let it trickle down. Establish morality once again. Cut more taxes.

They had their opportunity and they showed their true colors. They showed that their basic beliefs and philosophy are bankrupt. They don't work. They sounded good in Republican political circles but they simply did not work when they were applied to real life. Now they stand there naked, exposed to the world ... making excuses and asking for solutions from the opposition Party.

6. They worked for forty years to fail this badly.
People complain that Democrats are disorganized and can't stay on the same page. Well, their diversity and flexibility is what makes them excellent at governing.

Republicans are rigid authoritarians who can only keep trying the same failed program over and over again. Nothing can cover their ineptness or corruption.

10. and it defies common sense!
how can a system where the privleges of the few supercede the needs of the many (fascism, feudalism, thr gopig idea, ted bundy's beliefs, the mafioso's carefully built/maintained biz etc) succeed in a world full of mostly poorly paid people?
the gopigs answer is to denydenydeny, just like ted bundy or the mafia, or the feudal landowners, or the nazipoohs of history.....
"Being united themselves, they ought one and all to set their faces against employing any man who is united with any other man" said Mrs Sparsit- from 'Hard Times' by Charles Dickens

11. That's why they have to keep "creating reality" because they
can't operate successfully in reality. Well, the New Common Sense doesn't work very well, does it?

12. And they don't look good naked.

Picture Bush naked, but with a body-enveloping psoriasis. Don't forget the little flag sticker in the hair over his left nipple.

Seriously, though, I like your characterization of "asking for solutions from the opposition Party." I can use that as ammo in discussions about "Where's the Dem plan, then?"

13. They've failed at a few things, but in their minds and in corporate
boardrooms they've been an overwhelming success. Unfettered robbery for 8 years...a foothold in the ME...control of elections...faith-based policy...knocking Mother Earth down a few notches, maybe permanently...near complete control of congress for 4 years....creation of smokescreen (fear and terror) that can be used at anytime to control the public...chaos and disarray in the ME that requires US presence indefinitely...record corporate profits in defense and energy sectors...near complete control of main strea media

They may be naked, but they're still rich and in office and able to win elections.

14. but they killed the golden goose!
anyone who knows the gopigs knows that, at bottom they believe the bs (mom's apple pie was baked mainly for them!)illusion; cuz alot of what we are taught is just fiction, and it's these fictions that ther gopigs have, by succeeding beyond their wildest dreams, DESTROYED! who today believes the USA stands for what it once did? Who doesn't laff at the idea of lAdy liberty saying 'give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses' etc? who thinks the usa went to the moon in 1969? who doesn't secretly thinks obl pulled off 911 w/out help from the 'mil/indus/bsmedia complex? who thinks american citizenship stands for anything, after katrina?
geez, in a few years, scholars will be doing their thesis on this new reality....
for years, watching kissinger and wf buckley and pj o'rorke and even pat buchanan/arlen spector/tom brokawkaw/dan rawther/sam donaldson/peter jennings before his viz to hell and a whole bunch of other rightwingers, or reading cal thomas' 'blinded by the might' (yeah, i really read that) etc there has been an overwhelming sense that, as lewis lapham once said 'there is no left in the usa'....no left means noone to defy the rightwing, and that has been...well, 'nothing fails like success when you're working for the devil'
