Edited on Sat Sep-02-06 02:08 PM by ThomWV
4 Soldiers receive recommendation for death penalty for their actions in Iraq. Here comes the national debate, at long last, about this most horrible of subjects. http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/09/02/soldiers.charged.ap/index.html

If there's one thing he's demonstrated, it's a pronounced indifference to the deaths of others. Who they are is immaterial to him, since they'll be sorted out by St. Peter, right?

On one hand, you have repube blood lust to execute anything that isn't a fetus.
On the other, you have a chickenhawk administration that knows if they do ANYTHING that doesn't play in the press as fealty to our baby killers in uniform they will further turn on him.
The clincher will be that the administration fully supports these murderers and their heinous actions, and so will defend these men from their actions. These men should be pushed from a helicopter in Fallujah to suffer an Old Testament fate, but their fate will almost certainly be twisted into an argument that those that favor punishment don't support the troops.
They may well have been following orders to kill "all military age men", and that to me is the most disturbing potential fact of all.

5. No. The military can do no wrong in his eyes, but he'll dance around it. |

so as not to have to go on the record as talking a firm stand either way.
