Murtha: Bush doesn't listen

http://pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/opinion/columnists/steigerwald/s_415563.html

<snip>

Q: Do you have any advice for the current President Bush?

A: I think he had 19 former secretaries of state and secretaries of defense over there (to the White House) and they were only there for 42 minutes. And his concluding remarks were something like, "Well, I don't agree with most of the advice I got." Well, that's not what I call consultation. You really need to listen to people. You need not make up your mind before. This difference in this president, who I believe is isolated, is that he doesn't listen to enough people.

1. I think he's got Huges and Rice and possibly even Cheney
and those are the people he might listen to. I think Hughes consults Rove for advice on speeches and appearances, but I doubt Stupid does (the name "turdblossom" being a giveaway to his standing).

He's in the most tightly sealed, information proof bubble that I've ever seen anyone in. Hughes and Rice are both office wives and flatter and cajole him into listening.

He really needs to be separated from the office by impeachment. He's dangerous, if only for the willful ignorance.

2. I recall George Bush Jurior saying that comment in his 'folksy' manner
and smirk--it was a joke to him--and a photo=op

3. Insufferable little prick
He should have been slapped for that remark.

Hell, he should have had the crap kicked out of him years ago.

Prick. Rude, gutless little prick.

6. "I don't agree"
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 04:11 PM by SimpleTrend
Murtha nailed this one. Listening is a skill that can probably be developed to some degree, if one desires to develop it. But why would a president who was elected by fraud machines consider himself a leader who needed to listen to Americans, or even the narrower subset of American voters: where is the motivation of 'desire to listen'?

But what about the subset of those experienced government professionals who have consulted directly with him? Why is there no desire to listen to that group?

Prolly has something to do with a twisted version of "kill the beast."

7. President arrogant and stupid only invited former Secretaries......
of State and Defense so that he could have another photo-op. bush does not want to really hear anyone else's ideas or opinions because HE believes HE is the only one with the correct answers or solutions, 'cause GOD told him so. bush is absolutely pathetic.

8. Hell, he only listened to them for 5 or 10 minutes of the 42 minutes!
It was nothing more than a PR move from the "photo-op presidency."

9. 42 minutes for 19 experts works out to 2.21 minutes per person.
Junior thinks who the hell he is. He damn well should have listened to those 19 experts while he had the chance. It was nothing but another Rovian photo-op.

11. 45 secs avg. available time
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 04:58 PM by liam_laddie
Reports indicated that there were 35 minutes of "briefing" by the admin.
followed by "5 to 10 minutes" for the Secs. to comment. I believe there
were 13 guests; if ten minutes, that's 45 secs. to each. Actually only a few
spoke; most said nothing. Madeleine Albright spoke the longest.
Yes, it was just a damn photo-op; they were used!! Disgusting!
Impeachment must happen!

Link to NYT photo and article. bushie, cheney, condi, rummy and I think
a DoD type who gave the "briefing" are in the middle. Link:
