The three most vulnerable Democratic Senators up for re-election |
|
Maria Cantwell of Washington, Debbie Stabenow of Michigan, and Ben Nelson of Nebraska. Hopefully they will all win, but the Republicans will focus on those races.
The three most vulnerable Republican Senators up for re-election: Rick Santorum of PA, Mike DeWine of OH, and Conrad Burns of MT. Lincoln Chaffee of RI is in danger of losing his primary. If his opponent wins, the Democrat would be heavily favored in that race.
Toss-ups would be in VA and TN. If Webb could defeat Allen in Virginia and Ford could defeat Corker in Tennessee, Democrats could possibly win the Senate if they held all their vulnerable seats. However, the VA and TN races would be very difficult to win. If they win one of the two, we could possibly end up with a 50/50 Senate. Most likely, we will end up with a Republican majority of one or two seats and we will have to finish the job of taking over the Senate in 2008, the presidential year.

1. Ben Nelson will win another term as will Maria Cantwell. |
|
I am more concerned about Maryland where the GOP has their dirty tricks machine in full smear mode.
Most likely we will have a 50/50 Senate.

Something a little closer to the Capitol.

9. Would a more liberal Democrat win in Nebraska? |

Nelson must be doing something right, as his voters see it, that is.
And regarding abortion, many agree with the thought that post viability a woman does not have an absolute right to an abortion, that restrictions can be placed. Roe as amended by Casey supports this. I support less rather than more government intervention, however, when it comes to viability, the ball is in play, because the state does have a valid interest in post viability pregnancies in the view of many people. At that point abortion is not a belated form of birth control. It is a tragedy, even if it is a necessary tragedy.
I don't agree with Nelson's voting record, either. My point is, he seems to represent his constituents. They are the one's who need a widening of their world view, a light turned on in thier issues corner, most especially on environmental degradation and opportunistic corporations.

10. I'm in Washington State and Cantwell will win |
|
She's in heavy water regarding her Iraq vote, but McGavick is perceived as too close to Stevens in Alaska. Washingtonians don't want a hand puppet for Stevens representing their state. It will probably be close, but Cantwell will pull it out.
Cantwell should run some ads showing McGavick as Stevens hand puppet. There's already some ads about McGavick's money coming from out of state.
