Katie Couric invites Rush Limbaugh to guest on CBS Evening News
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 07:56 AM by DoYouEverWonder
Katie Couric Has A Busy Week

04 September 2006

Katie Couric has scored a major coup if this weeks schedule remains as planned.

President George W. Bush, President Bill Clinton, Mayor Rudy GIuliani, Walter Cronkite, Bill Maher are all scheduled to appear in her first week's debut, but the major surprise was to get king of talk radio and media giant Rush Limbaugh to agree to appear.

King of political gossip Matt Drudge reported: "It was Katie's idea to bring Limbaugh in," a top CBS source said on Sunday. "She is very excited he has agreed to appear."

Consdiering that El Rushbo is 100% conservative and that Katie Couric is 100% liberal guarantees a show that should not be missed.

I have 100 bucks on Rush!

Now I definitely will avoid watching this supposedly 'liberal' airhead even if she was the last news program in the country.

To give the King of Hate such prime time exposure only legitimizes him and his politics of hate that is destroying this country.

CBS can go stick it where the sun don't shine.

4. When I watch news, I want the news not someone's opinion of
the news.

"When she starts tonight, Couric will introduce new features, including longer analytical pieces about the top story of the day and a 'free speech' segment of opinion and commentary -- moves she admits will mean fewer overall stories in the 22-minute broadcast," the LAT's Matea Gold writes.

14. Where can people without cable and computers get the facts?
If the free airwaves are filled with opinion pieces and those opinions are afraid the consequences of an unofficial BushCo reality, how can we sustain a Democracy? Where can the truth be found? Is there any Press that is run freely? Anyone know of an unencumbered mass media outlet?

22. You forgot the fact that this morning she said she doesn't think
people want their news delivered with gravitas. ...I like my news weighted down with gravitas. I think the news deserves gravitas. And I tend to think that could have been a slap at Cronkite.

The above interviews will be nothing but puff pieces. Dubya will have his interview heavily pre-scripted and basically blurt out nothing but war and terror, the rest are smart enough to fly on their own. And an invitation for Rush??????? No way.

10. she succumbed to the administration pressure
...and has not lead an unbiased interview since Bush got in office. She is either being paid by the administration ala Jeff Gannon, or she is so intimidated by the idea that they will have her career, that she has become the epitome of the right-wing talking points.

History will look at her and the other "journalists" who, when they could have exposed the administration for what it was, instead abrogated their responsibility as part of the system of checks and balances and became a propaganda machine.

The administration has quite a coop: not only do they have fox news, they now have CBS.

19. Dittoheads will see this as a huge victory
because, certainly, Rush will have "won" this interview. Especially in their minds.

And you know what? Fuck her. She deserves to get lied to and treated like trash and made a fool of.

Fascists like Limbaugh should not be appeased. He is always saying that.

21. That settles it - I won't be watching
I was planning on watching once just out of curiosity, but seeing her upcoming guest list has changed my mind. Somehow I doubt that she is going to confront these people on their lies/distortions, and just kiss their @sses. She makes me sick.

27. Think she'll focus on Rush being an entertainer, rather than a news-jock?
He can lie. He lies about his lying. He lies about his accuracy. He lies about his own review of his accuracy.

Then, if lawsuits fly, he says he's an entertainer so that his lying is legal, which is how truth sounds from Rush when under oath and he cannot lie without some consequence.

As it is, his lying pays him well. Right-wingers, corrupt corporations, the military-industrial complex, the un-Churched CIA, xenophobes, and in general people who hate themselves and cannot even love America, find solace in Rush. Temporary, worthless, vain, self-placating solace.

He is a scourge whose heart was scorched between his need for approval and his personal proclivities. He needs to heal his own heart, forgive himself and come clean.
