Condi Suggests Opponents Of Iraqi War - Would Have Tolerated Slavery
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 08:17 AM by kpete
Condi takes historical analogies to an absurd level

Last week, top administration officials, including Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld, equated the war in Iraq with fighting Nazis in World War II. As part of this analogy, the Bush gang made its critics out to be Neville Chamberlain — as if troop redeployment in Iraq is the moral equivalent of appeasing Hitler.

As if that weren't quite offensive enough, Condoleezza Rice has upped the ante a bit, suggesting that opponents of the war are the moral equivalent of those who would tolerate slavery in 19th century America.

Secretary of State Rice compared the Iraq war with the American Civil War, telling a magazine that slavery might have lasted longer in this country if the North had decided to end the fight early.

"I'm sure there are people who thought it was a mistake to fight the Civil War to its end and to insist that the emancipation of slaves would hold," Rice said in the new issue of Essence magazine.

"I know there were people who said, 'Why don't we get out of this now, take a peace with the South, but leave the South with slaves?'" Rice said.

Now, I know that Rice, like much of today's Republican Party, is desperate. I realize that this appears to be a challenging campaign cycle for the GOP, and they're willing to engage in whatever demagoguery necessary to survive the next 10 weeks.

Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 08:28 AM by liberaldemocrat7
Hey Kindasleezy why do you and your REPUBLIKLAN congress and chimpenfuhrer support $5.15 an hour slavery in this country? In 9 years since the minimum wage has stayed still, inflation and other factors has reduced this so called $5.15 an hour salary to about half the value. Now who supports slavery Kindasleezy?

15. Slavery my ass, Kindasleazy has rode the coattails of Civil Rights
workers her entire life. She enjoyed a nice middle class upbringing in Birmingham and her family refused to get involved with the Civil Rights struggle of the 60s - sitting it out and not putting life or limb into the fray. Her father, a preacher (not a "sharecropper" the repugs love to throw into any discussion about any repug from the South) did not join others in the boycotts and marches but preferred to hold on to what little prestige he had by not getting involved.

Then she coasts along on the backs of all who fought that battle and pretends she has some kind of authority on the issue because she lived in Birmingham at the time. I'm sick and tired of this woman who panders to a stupid, clueless man, who shops for shoes while people drown and who evokes the Civil Rights struggle and slavery when it suits her purpose. She speaks Russian and can play a piano but that is pretty much it for her talents or abilities. Worse Secretary of State ever serving the Worse President Ever.

Now I'm a slavery appeaser. Can they go any lower?

these people are after - in a serious way.

Who is she trying to win? Was it calculated? Or did it just come stumbling out of her mouth? Keeping in mind that Rovians are always trying to win and rescue and keeping in mind that they may not have 'gain' in mind, but rather 'retain' they may only have her targeting their same old bigoted base - they may want them saying or thinking - 'traitors' (in a bizarre backward way).

26. I think it's more a reflection of her personal demons than anything
else, in line with her statements about her family not being bothered by segregation because they were allowed to shop in the white stores at night! Or the death of the little girls (her contemporaries) in the Birmingham church bombing having had no influence on her. Or her lectures on the profound academic roots of her silly, made-up name, and her statements that she wasn't exposed to popular music until she left home for college.

As usual, her main mission is to prove how fine she is, how aristocratic, how completely to the manner born.

She is one sick person.

I think I find her politics and lies so repulsive that I am grandly turned off and have little interest in knowing about her. It's like punishment to listen and know how severely and how badly she lies. I was turned off the minute I learned that she was part of Iran-Contra.

24. Lets talk about slavery and the real appeasers - the GOP.
Who was it attacked us on September 11th?
answer: A group of Saudis from a Saudi founded, Saudi funded terrorist organization trained in Pakistan and based in Afghanistan.

Who did we go to war with as a result?
answer: Saudi Arabia's biggest enemy Iraq with Afghanistan on the side.

Today our enemy's leaders are hiding in Pakistan and are still funded by Saudi money and who are we threatening with war?
answer: Saudi Arabia's second biggest enemy Iran.

See the pattern? George W Bush and the GOP appeasers won't confront the real source of the problem the Wahib's of Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia is an oppressive country that does tolerate human trafficking and slavery and treats women as personal property. Saudi Arabia the good friend and business partner of big oil, the Bush family and the GOP. We can always look the other way with them as long as the oil keeps flowing.

34. Hey Condi! What Harry Belafonte said
"In the days of slavery, there were those slaves who lived on the plantation and there were those slaves that lived in the house. You got the privilege of living in the house if you served the master ... exactly the way the master intended to have you serve him...The idea that you work in the house of the master is almost in itself its own opportunity to do some mischief and make a difference, but when you are in that place and you help perpetuate the master's policy that perpetuates oppression and pain for many others, then something has to be said about it," Belafonte said. "And the master in this instance, of course, was the president of the United States."
