What the HELL is wrong with Bill Clinton?
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 12:10 PM by Texas Explorer
I was reading http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x2052224#2052252">this thread thought the questions it raises should be brought out onto the main board.

I just don't get it.

With the impending screening by ABC of The Path to 9/11, why is Bill Clinton nowhere to be seen or heard defending himself and setting the partisan record straight? How can he allow this obvious propoganda to become a part of his legacy in the hearts and minds of Americans?

I was perplexed at his teaming with GHW* after the devastating Sumatran tsunami but decided to let it ride considering the circumstances. But since then, Big Dog's been acting as if GHW* is the father he never had. This concerns me to no end because I'm alarmed at what sort of brainwashing he may be getting from the BFEE. He's hanging out with poppy; he's hanging out with Barbara; he's soaking in their history and philosophies.

WTF?! Are we losing Bill Clinton?

1. Maybe he's smart?
Any criticism he could level at this show would only draw in ratings.

10. I think that's right
If we go after ABC it's different than if he does. Only ABC pays attention (hopefully) if we do. The rest of the media will if BC does.

14. Yes - that show will tank
They probably cut advertising because they didn't want to do make-goods when the ratings fail. "Flight 93" and "World Trade Center" both failed to turn a profit this summer (karma?) -- I think people are sick of fiction based on 9/11/2001.

Someone should try a real documentary on the subject.

17. In this case it would be smart to ignore it...for now
Can you imagine the viewership the program would have if he commented? I almost wonder if the creator had banked on something such as that occurring to help sell his swill.

2. Perhaps he's waiting...
to see exactly what the show is all about so he'll have something concrete to respond to?

3. No, we aren't loosing him.....
I think he is mature enough to realize if he jumped into the frey, it would only make things that much worse...

22. Well, consider a few things
Income inequality escalated during his years in office far faster than it had under Reagan or Poppy.

Access to abortion services was curtailed as antiabortion terrorism was such a low priority.

Corporations were allowed to skirt the law as long as they did it through a dummy offshore subsidiary.

NAFTA & GATT

Accelerated offshoring of industry.

He didn't even MENTION dealing with the whole tax mess and he signed bills that came with sweetheart tax breaks for Repug contributors. He just plain didn't seem to care.

His & his wife's health care plan left the problem in place: the for profit health insurance companies. They would have continued to deny care to boost profits under his plan, too.

Social security overpayments being robbed by Congress were never addressed, but of course he'd have to deal with the Reagan tax disaster to fix that.

I could go on and on, of course, but you get the general drift. He was pro corporate and a typical southern conservative.

24. Guess I forgot
there were very few jobs created
Colleges and Universities were unable to expand because of limited education grants
Pell grants were limited so out kids could not get an education
Corporations were given a blanket tax shelter
My income increased in the 90's because it took nearly 20 years for the trickle down economy to actually take hold

Guess I just forgot just how bad things were under Clinton but thanks for reminding me

DLCers are not really all that liberal, now are they?

Though Clinton did a lot of great things and HELL if I wouldn't want him back compared to the disaster currently holding office...

he's on the campaign trail helping Dems raise money - an activity sure to NOT attract media attention.

Can't wait to see him!

See my post above. The news media will always ignore him if he's doing anything to help fellow Dems.

7. Brainwashing?
Yeah right. Like the Bush family all sit in a dark mansion in one of those wealthy NE states, all chanting, figuring out how to take over the world. Keep dreamin'.

Seriously though, Clinton helped give us NAFTA(and the rest of the trade organizations) and the deregulation of the media. He's already half way into their boat as is.

11. Has Clinton even seen the movie?
Also, he may not want to stir anything more up, hoping the the show dies a quick death.

All it takes is another John Karr to send the media into a frenzy and the whole show and premises made will be forgotten by the public.

19. Michael Moore
Michael Moore also said in one of his books that Clinton was one of the best REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTS we've ever had.

Mike's going to release some kind of film before the next elections. This fan will be consuming it when it comes out for sure.

23. Isn't that a film about the pharmaceuticals?
It should be a good one.

I would also add that Clinton was and still is more that a DINO.

16. Hmmm. Bill signs repub-friendly deals, chums up to * despite being openly
scowled at by *... now he's hiding when a biased doco is released.

He's done enough for the Democratic party, but surely by saying nothing he's doing far worse to himself and his own honor and dignity?

We never had Bill Clinton.

21. IT MUST NOT GO TO THE SCHOOLS! That is where the TRUE
propaganda purpose lies: to indoctrinate the next generation of voters into becoming Republicans.

And THAT is why there are no commercials---to more readily be accepted into our public schools! (I.e., avoiding the Channel One controversy.)
