DAMMIT, message to Reid, Dem candidates, Pelosi, Durbin, liberal radio
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 12:42 PM by Skidmore
folks, Dean, erstwhile liberal pundits from Skidmore:

1) Bring up the anthrax terrorist attack WHICH HAPPENED AFTER 9/11 ALREADY!!! Do it now before the elections!!!

2) Bring up the issue of falling pump prices and stable diesel prices and relate it to the increase in products and services in the market. Do it NOW before the elections!!

3) Bring up the fact that bin Laden is still free and has the run of the world, if he so chooses. Do it NOW before the elections!!!

4) Bring up the open borders as being antithetical to national security because this issue is going to bite you in the collective ass. A total fool can drive a truck through that gap. It's a fact that the borders are not secure!! Do it NOW before the election!!

5) Bring up the back door draft that our military is experiencing!! Do it NOW before the elections!!

6) Bring up ethics violations and voting fraud!!! Let people know that their vote is in jeopardy!! DO it NOW before the election!!!!!

7) Bring up our national debt and let them know what the Comptroller General said about it being 90% of the nation's net worth. That every one of them is responsible for $60K+ of it before they have anything to live on.

GET OUT THERE AND DO YOUR JOBS at the microphones you've been given!!

Edited to correct spelling of Reed to Reid.

2. 8) Bring up the fact that the GOP Congress wouldn't pass Clinton's
Anti-Terrorism bill in 1996, which opened the door to the 9/11 attacks.

9) Bring up the fact that unless checks and balances are restored in our government immediately, we will likely be at war with Iran - we have a President addicted to war in The White House.

4. Really good rant
Why is it so hard for the Dem politicians to get this clear msg. out?

Bush is blathering and babbling stuff at the moment that he has been saying for 5 years. He talks like what he is saying is shocking news. Hell, Clinton and his crowd knew all this info before Dum Dum took office. Unbelievable

What did bush do when he took office? Did he get those that attacked our ship in Yemen? Didn't even mention it. What about the camps in Afghanistan that Clinton knew existed, did Dum Dum even mention them? He is totally ignorant and apparently a whole bunch of loyal American don't have time to read or even watch the right wing news at night to get a clue.

5. I agree with all except #1
I'll give you three very good reasons:

1) Dated. No one's even thought about this since 2001. Bringing it up and reeducating takes a lot of effort away from the other 6 important issues you raise.

2) Conspiracy theory. Nothing more needs to be said. You invalidate your own opinion by even bringing this into the equation.

3) Unnecessary. Given reasons #1 and #2, why even take the risk when you don't need to? You've got six fantastic issues there. Why muddy the waters? Why let them focus on the issue that is easily the most questionable?

As a bonus, here's a fourth reason:

**It should be replaced with national health care and education funding. These are winner issues that the Republicans have been HUGE losers on.

8. Point well taken. Thanks.
Vash, any ideas on how to get a list into the hands of those who need to have them? I'm out here in the boonies and have no meaningful connections anywhere. Who with any clout at all could make these comments part of the dialogue for the campaigns and national media interactions? Actually, anyone feel free to jump in. Not intending to put Vash on the spot. I just would love to be able to identify someone that you could sit down and tell that, from the people's perspective, these are the issues that are important. I want them to quit limiting themselves to the feedback of paid political operatives and become engaged WITH THE CITIZENRY!!

10. Strongly Disagree!
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 01:15 PM by bvar22
Bush* and the Republicans are running on the LIE that the US hasn't been attacked since 9-11.
WRONG!!!
The SUCCESSFUL Anthrax Terrorist Attack is the ONLY time that the US has been attacked with REAL WMD,
AND the Anthrax Terrorists are STILL FREE,
AND No one in Washington CARES!

This is one of the STRONGEST rebuttals that the Republicans can keep America SAFE!!!

I would HIGHLIGHT this TERRORIST ATTACK, the Republican's FAILURE to catch the terrorists, and drive it into the Public Consciousness!

12. You still haven't rebutted the biggest problem
No one outside of DU has thought about this since 9/11. You're not going to win if you have to spend time re-educating people on the issue, because while you're re-educating, they're still pounding away at their main point. It's just not going to happen.

13. No "re-education" necessary.
Just a simple reminder.

America was attacked by TERRORISTS AFTER 9-11.
The Terrorists are still FREE.
The Republicans have FAILED (again)catch them. and make America safer.
The Republicans are STILL LYING!

Simple!

16. Do me a favor.
Try telling exactly what you just typed to someone that you know isn't politically savvy. Then tell me their response. I'd bet everything they'd go completely cross-eyed immediately after line 1. You're giving people way, WAY too much credit.

18. NONSENCE..I BROUGHT UP THE ANTHRAX THIS WEEKEND
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 02:28 PM by flyarm
in a conversation with 5 of my republican life long friends when we discussed the upcoming election..and their stance was over and over we hasven't been attacked since 9/11 and i let them hang themselves..then i hit them with the anthrax stuff..and they all sighed and said..ohhh yeah i forgot about that..and then they got mad..and i added..not only has this prick in the white house not caught bin laden..the anthrax killer is still on the run and free...and ya know what..they all got pissed and said..well you did it now..they all said ...you are right ...

and i asked them all..either vote for democrats ..or just stay home and don't vote..

2 said they were going to vote democratic and 3 said they wouldn't vote..

look it will be harder for the assholes in this white house to steal the election..if repugs don't vote..

so those are my suggestions to people i know rethuglican..don't vote, if you can not vote for a democrat

i believe we must bring up the anthrax all day, every day..over and over again..
of course i am in NJ and one of our post offices was closed for a very long time and attacks took place here..but people have the memory of a piss ant..

they need to be reminded!

and i heard on washington journal, a freeper type call in after the press conf .and he said there were no other attacks..and he was all over Reid because Reid said no major attacks since 9/11

i was screaming ..Anthrax!!

haven't we had enough revisionist history already??

i say scream it..anthrax anthrax anthrax!

21. I'd love to see you site a source there.
There was a poll about people not remembering when 9/11 happened, but I don't think the anthrax attack was part of that.

14. That's not a reason to leave it out
As far as I'm concerned, it's a good thing to bring up to R acquaintances to give them a V-8 moment.

I don't spend time on it except to assert that the administration painted it as a terrorist act and the info about that fact and their failure to find the perpetrators is available on the net. The end. I tell them to do their own homework if they care to or not. At least it's a quick rebuttal to the notion that there were no attacks after 9/11. And they never have anything in return. Ever.

But I would never leave it out of my toolbox of rebuttals for the reasons you give. Using your reasoning, you would have to leave out how Clinton begged Congress to pass anti terrorism legislation in 1996. Each of our points becomes an education for moron wingnuts who try to cover their ears and sing la-la-la.

6. AND while you're at it...
9. Bring up the jobs going overseas and let the people know that these 21st century jobs the Republics (use that word) want us to train for are at McDonalds and Wallyworld!! Tell the people about the increase in H1B? visas. Do it NOW before the elections.

10. Bring up the damage being done to our infrastructure and why taxes are important to building roads, bridges, and maintaining the postal services and mass transit systems. Do it NOW before the elections.

11. Outline a serious proposal for national energy policy with and vow to implement it. DO it NOW before the election.

Effin' stop navel gazing and collecting belly-button lint. Your timidity and reticense will do just as much damage as any overt actions the Republics can make.

11. AND for an even dozen....
12. Bring up global warming and let us get to work on reducing the impact of humans on the environment...be responsible stewards of the earth. Do it NOW before the elections.

Anyone else have something to add.

All points welcomed!! I'm getting so sick of hearing crickets chirping at the top of the party and the lack of common sense when it comes to presenting issues. We read the newspapers and listen to the news. Don't they? There's not a think here that couldn't be culled from attending to the world as it happens.

17. Super, but most American will not take time to read that report.
They need to talk to the people and seek out venues. Take the time to have public forums. They need to engage in a very personal way with the population. When they are being interviewed they need to bring the conversation back to these issues by any means possible and quit playing defense to Republic talking points.
