Call your cable company and cancel DISNEY. |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 12:45 PM by Benhurst
There's no effective way to go after ABC, which attempting to influence the upcoming elections with its propagandistic "Path to 911," which demonizes Clinton and paints George W. Bush as a hero.
The latest news is that ABC is putting this on for three nights COMMERCIAL FREE. They, as a corporation, are willing to forgo profits to push their right-wing propaganda.
It is almost impossible to effectively go after a "commercial" network, but DISNEY, ABC's parent corporation is more vulnerable.
Those of us who subscribe to Disney, should call their cable companies and demand it be removed from their service.

doesn't mean freedom to lie. It isn't a matter of disagreement or opinion it's a matter of misrepresentation.

5. Wait a minute what about ESPN? |
|
You picked the easy one (for most people) to get rid of.
Oh, it's free of course. Not really, you could still block it.
BTW, Disney is free on my cable and I never watch it except of reruns of The Tick. The Tick was a cartoon show made by Fox so I guess I am just an evil SOB.

no sense though... someone has to be paying to have this BS piece shown and I have a hard time believing ABC is quite that generous.

While I understand the emotion behind boycotting Disney, it won't do any good. They have more money than god.

17. Agreed...Disney is not in the least bit vulnerable. |
|
Southern Baptists tried ot boycott them for nearly a decade, and it did nothing.
My local ABC affiliate might likely be more vulnerable, however. I will be letting them know, and will also be cc'ing copies of my letter to them to the local businesses that most heavily advertise on the local ABC affiliate.
I have also let Scholastic know of my displeasure at the fact that they are aiding the promotion and spread of inaccurate political propaganda to schoolchildren, as they have a little les to fall back on than Disney/ABC, and might be slightly more afraid of angry moms. PTA groups stopping their book fairs could really hurt.

13. There IS A Difference |
|
Between stating your position or opinion (free speech, protected under the First Amendment) and making statements which are contrary to the facts with the intent to harm someone (this is slander or libel, not protected by the First Amendment.) "The Path To 9/11" makes several statements which are demonstrably false. It does so, one can reasonably conclude, in order to demonize Democrats and elevate Republicans. This can also be seen to violate the "equal time rule."
A copy of my email to our local station: Dear Mr. Brantley, This is to inform you that my family & I will no longer be watching your station. We will also be endeavoring to convince any of your advertisers we can to pull their advertising from your station. This is a direct result of ABC-TV's decision to broadcast, as though it was based upon the 9/11 Commission Report, the fictional narrative & political polemic The Path to 9/11. Much of the premise of this piece of propaganda, at least the pieces which have been available pre-release, completely flies in the face of the actual 9/11 Commission Report, and to say that it bears any relation to it beyond sharing a date in its title is to do a disservice to history & to the memory of those who died that awful day. I worked the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks as a volunteer, I have many friends who worked in those dreadful days after the planes hit the Twin Towers, the Pentagon & the Pennsylvania countryside - we are all enraged that ABC-TV would make itself a party to this sort of distortion of recorded history. I will also make it my business to see that none of the 100,000 free DVDs that ABC-TV is planning on distributing to schools ever make it into a Southwest Georgia school. Please be assured that there is such a thing as History, and there are such things as Slander and Libel - and ABC-TV has crossed the line into Slander & Libel.

I just always hear people say "I'll never watch/listen to/read your thing again, and I'm going to call all your advertisers too" and I never figured out how anyone can know who the advertisers are without watching/listening/reading the thing, you know?
