Are Irwin-haters anything like Leopold-haters?... |
|
or anti-semites? or Clinton-bashers? or Chavez-haters? or OCT government shills? or 9/11 conspiraloons?
It's getting really hard to for me to distinguish the trolls/disruptors/freepers/haters from the people who just have an opinion that's different from mine.

4. No. Just old fashioned trolls. |
|
They haven't got a political agenda. They just like to get people upset.

6. You can tell the difference when |
|
you see emotion-based attacks with no back-up reasons or evidence.
And some people just like to be against the prevailing winds, no matter what. It makes them feel empowered, somehow. The worst part is the way they endlessly repeat false charges as if everyone knows that they're true.

There's lots more posts crying about these hard to find 'vitriolic' posts against Irwin than there are actual 'vitriolic' posts against Irwin.
That said, it IS sad when DU is obsessed with one man's death to the point that you can hardly find any interesting topics to discuss.

9. I'd liken it to the reaction to John Paul II dying |
|
Lots of people saying "what a great man" etc., and some saying not. And I think there are many who aren't disruptors in the latter category - it's just how they feel.

10. Irwin wasn't much of a political animal, but his few statements |
|
were right wing, pro authoritarian.
IMO, that's more than balanced with the work he did in conservation and education. He got people to like creatures they'd always feared and hated as important parts of a complex ecosystem, and that's a tall order in Australia where half the flora and most of the fauna are deadly.
He will be missed.

That's like worrying whether or not Dudley Do-Right's a liberal or tory.

11. I think they actually have a lot in common with "conservatives" |
|
One, they love to whine about everything. Two, nobody measures up to their ideological standards except a handful of heroes. Three, one step "off the reservation" and even those heroes are quickly dismantled.
I wonder what will happen if Dems do in fact retake the House and Senate this year ... will they continue to whine when they are then the majority? That sounds quite familiar ...

I don't think it's a matter of someone being a troll or anything like that. Some don't like Farrakhan, some do, some don't like Leopold, some do, some don't like Malloy and some do. It's all predicated on who you ask and their reasons for liking or not liking someone. Sometimes some don't know why they like or don't like a person.

OCT = Official Conspiracy Theory
Used to denote those who either
1) support the governments version of events of 9/11, or 2) don't support the 9/11 conspiraloon position. :)

The original post is leading and inflammatory, especially conflating recent news with past hot topics. This is unecessary. Thanks.
