Not Only Is There No Word On ABC Bullshit Movie Sponsors,
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 05:53 PM by Dinger
it doesn't appear to be a big deal on c-span or any of the "news" shows. No one seems to be talking about it. Maybe they'll talk about it AFTER they air it, when it's toodamn late. Clinton is totally silent on this too - what's up?

(On edit): I know they canceled a blog and there will be no commercials after originally saying there would be "limited commercial inerruption," due to their chicken shittiness. It's sort of like there's a gag rule or something.

1. ABC is airing both parts w/o Advertisements
Originally it was only supposed to be on Sunday night, but now it's on Monday too. I wonder if nervous advertisers have pulled out?

4. So, who's paying for the air time?
Or is ABC giving it away for free to the GOP?

So everyone that has a t.v. license here has paid for it in part.
Part 1 will be aired on sunday, part 2 on monday.

2. I read somewhere on DU that they're running it ad-free (so no sponsors)
Nice and civic-minded of them, isn't it?

3. Would you run an ad? Bill Clinton is the most popular and most
influential man in the world. Why risk making his admirers mad? It is ABC we need to attack. What can be their motivation? Are they that seriously right wing? Let's get in touch with big GOP advertisers anyway; let them know this show had better not be presented. I have written ABC three times now, and I have gotten the same garbage answer each time...the old form letter.

5. At least you had some kind of reply
They haven't answered me at all and I've contacted them twice. Now I'm going to target the local station. If there is enough pressure from the locals, then maybe the national network will get the message and not show it, or at least put up disclaimers every ten minutes or so.

7. I agree that local is the way to go
A boycott is ineffective if those being boycotted don't feel the pain. But letting your local ABC affiliate and local businesses who advertise on your local ABC affiliate know that you will not support that channel or its advertisers will be more effective. That's messing with real dollars, not funny money that is less than a drop in the bucket to major corporations.

14. I just sent my email to KMGH7 here in Denver...
Addressed to the GM expressing very politely my displeasure with his station airing a clearly partisan "docudrama" produced by a man with a clear right wing agenda. I suggested they have disclaimers every 15 minutes stating that this was a work of FICTION.

Wonder what the response will be.

8. Here's the story from Variety
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 06:21 PM by RamboLiberal
ABC has decided the best sponsor for its upcoming Sept. 11 mini is no sponsor at all.

After originally announcing its intention to air "The Path to 9/11" with limited commercial interruption, the network now will air both parts of the $30 million Harvey Keitel starrer without any advertising.

What's more, the Alphabet will potentially limit its backend profits by allowing consumers to download the complete miniseries -- for free -- via Apple's iTunes Music Store. Mini also will be streamed for free via ABC.com, and XM Radio has pacted with the network to make an audiocast of the film available to its subscribers.

ABC Entertainment prexy Steve McPherson said the commercial-free strategy was the most appropriate route to take with this project.

<snip>

Because the miniseries' actual length is less than the six-hour, two-night block in which it's scheduled to run, ABC has had to make other plans to fill the time following the conclusions of both parts.

12. Oddly enough
A lot of people who fill out ballots watch the teevee and form their opinions based on what they see and hear. Incredible, I know, but there it is. And if the teevee is going to be beamed into hundreds of millions of homes with a blatantly factually false depiction of a story that could affect how some of those millions of voters will decide how to vote, it seems to be just plain good citizenship to call a broadcast network to account for that falsehood. After all, ABC is broadcasting on an airwave that belongs to the public -- that is, you and me.

13. bing-bing-bing! We HAVE a winner!
exactly. We must keep up pressure to get this cancelled OR AT LEAST to get a banner scrolled across the screen stating that this is a docuDRAMA not a documentary. It is NOT FACTUAL - it is entertainment.

15. That PUBLIC AIRWAVES thing is a pain for them ain't it?
Most people don't realize WE allow them to broadcast on OUR airwaves. By granting them that privelege we get the opportunity to call them out when they abuse tet privelege. We've got to hit this HARD!
