Tweety is panicking at the thought of a woman Speaker of the House. |
|
What is wrong with that troglodyte? He and Ornstein commiserating about the psychological impact on the nation of seeing a woman behind the "president" at a State of the Union address. What a pig!

It just goes to show that there are no depths to how low that corporate toadie will stoop.

8. This country is so messed up when it comes to women in positions |
|
of power. I don't mean everyone in the country, of course, but just look at the frenzy over Couric taking over at CBS. Not defending or detracting where she is concerned, but sheesh. "A woman in an national anchor chair???? OMG, the world is coming to an end!"
And now people freak out because a woman (eeeeew!) may become Speaker of the House? Fer Gawd sakes! I'm having serious doubts that I will ever see a woman as President in my lifetime.
We are still, in many ways, second-class citizens in this country.

12. Well, to be fair to Ornstein... |
|
He thought it would be good for women to see a woman sitting right behind the president at the State of the Union. I didn't hear him as being scared or unsettled but as it is about time that women have this position or power and that more women would run for office. And this is a good thing. I like Ornstein - he gives Chucklenuts hell on AAR.

Hillary hasn't got a chance? Not only does she have a lot of baggage, but she would be crucified for being a woman. I got jumped on for saying that here at DU, but I really believe that deep down, America is not yet mature enough to accept a woman as president, especially in times of Terra.
I can't believe Tweety went down that tired old road about Pelosi. Oh yeah, I guess I can....it's all about being adversarial. Let's whip up the War between the Sexes when we can't get enough of the War on Terra.

24. I agree with you about Hilary not having a chance because she's |
|
a woman. I don't really want her for President, not because she's female, of course, but because I'd like to see someone in the White House whose last name is not Clinton or (horror of horrors), Bush.
But I definitely would like to see a woman as President (as long as she's a Dem).

26. First I want to see a sane person as president |
|
...and then we might be able to get our hopes up for a woman again at some point. Meanwhile I'd like to see more women in public office in general, like for example in the Senate. (But being a Democrat still comes first right now--Republican women are lockstep conservatives).

If the House and Senate flips, Cheney and Bush could be in real trouble. The idea of Nancy as CIC really gets their panties in a wad.

Speaker of the House IS NOT the House Majority leader.

27. remember when those women wanted to pose in congress |
|
in the exact opposite numbers of men/women in congress as there were at the time, and they (congress, collectively?) wouldn't allow that photo to be taken because it would have really shockingly pointed out how out of whack the numbers are in real life?
