Anyone else fed up with all this 9-11 crap?
I'm sorry, I'm just fed up to here with all this crap about 9-11. Yeah, I know it's the 5th anniversary of the attack, but does that mean we have to be inundated with all this "feel good, do you remember" bullshit? Why can't we just remember 9-11 in our own personal way?

You didn't see Clinton making a big deal 5 years after the first WTC attack. You didn't see him making a big deal 5 years after the OKC bombing. Why? BECAUSE HE FUCKING TOOK CARE OF BUSINESS! Instead of going off on some half-baked war against some uninvolved country, instead of stripping away our civil liberties, he actually went after the perpetrators. What a friggin concept! For one brief moment after 9-11, we had the world on our side. Did * take advantage of this? HELL NO. Just like the budget surplus, he squandered it all away. But hell, * is used to squandering stuff away, isn't he?

I am sick and fucking tired of * and the rest of the neo-cons trying to take advantage of 9-11 for their own political gain. They know they don't stand a chance in November, so they're going to try to use every weapon they can. They're going to push the whole fear and terror plot for all its worth. I love how * comes out and says that we're safer than on 9-11, but "not safe enough". Gee, I guess that means we need the GOP to help make us safer, right? NO THANK YOU.

1. Katrina is an open wound

This is the way I am thinking about it now. The wound of this country is not reopened by fingering 9/11. That was a gasp and a hand help up to our collective cheeks which had just been slapped. How vulnerable we were. How shaken. The night after, we went to a Tarot class. The defining card to come up was "The Tower"; people leaping out of a burning tower. The significance of this card is "change" things unable to go on as usual. We also came to the conclusion that we need to apologize to the Native Americans. For everything. We came away with the feeling of humility, sad apologies, coming from our hearts, for all of the suffering in this world.

The wound of this country, continues to fester, rises like a silent scream, the horrid treatment of our own, in the aftermath of Katrina. Next time you find yourself in an Arena, picture all of those people living in there with you for days in 100+ degrees, with no food or water, no working toilets, being kept there and not being let out. I understand Munch's, "The Scream" painting. This was our government, grabbing us by the ponytail, pulling us back to their lips and breath, hissing, "One up or two down?"

8.  9,810,000 for bush 911
9,810,000 for bush 911 on Google

Google bush 911
Close to 10,000,000

BTW: the number of Americans dead overseas just exceeded the 911 number of dead.
Is that even? My head can't get around that one.
Course we killed about 15,000 sand dwellers.
Are we ahead?

2. You betcha...It's nothing but exploitation.
I'm sick of movies about it, I'm sick of desperate-for-votes politicians talking about it and I'm sick of news networks trying to relive it. Meanwhile, the situations in Iraq and Afghanistan are growing more dire, and Katrina victims are no better off than a year ago.

4. I'm just amazed that they're actually trying to spin it in their favor
I didn't forget the memo Condi ignored about planes. Maybe they did, since it didn't mean anything to them at the time. :P

18. Every time they show those poor souls taking a dive out of an
eighty story window rather that burn up, it leaves an indelible imprint it our eyes and our psyches and our natural inclination is to seek safety from anyone who can promise us that we will never have to make that awful choice, plunge or burn, if they're in charge. Such a brilliant strategy, flawless in its simplicity. Platform on a platter.

5. I want 911 shoved down everyone's throats.
I want 911 saturation everywhere.

I want the TRUTH to come out.

The more the neo-cons try to exploit 911, the less emotional advantage it has. When citizens come to see their exploitation for what it is, then the more questions they will ask. And, those questions are known by many, but not in the forefront of their acceptance yet.

9/11, Bring It On!

9. Well, Bushco think of 911 as their finest hour, for some reason. Odd, some
of us look at it as an enormous failure....

13. 9/11 is the Holy Creation Myth of the Bush Program
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 12:56 AM by petgoat
Dr. David Ray Griffin pointed out last spring that the 9/11 story
has a quasi-religious status, and Bush declared his Holy War from
inside the National Cathedral, surrounded by Billy Graham, a cardinal,
a rabbi, and an imam.

Dr. Griffin, being an eminment theologian, is uniquely qualified to
comment on this. http://www.911truth.org/article.php?story=20060405112622982

His most recent book, Christian Faith and the Truth Behind 9/11: A Call to
Reflection and Action,
is published by the Westminster John Knox Press,
the publishing arm of the Presbyterian Church USA.

15. For So Many Reasons
First and foremost, I don't want to see the footage any more. I don't want to live through it again.

For all the things the attacks were, they were the deaths of many people whose last moments were spent in blinding fear. That shouldn't be fetishized and drooled over for displays of 'look how much I care' or 'look how patriotic I am.' A quiet, small respectful ceremony at sites would be appropriate, but that's not what will happen; we'll have the horror beaten over our heads hourly by opportunistic ghouls.

I feel nothing but sorrow for those who died (except the perpetrators, for whom I still feel intense hatred). I will not watch as politicians and media darlings try to make their careers on their deaths.

17. there isn't any 911 "crap" around here (southeast louisiana)
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 02:29 AM by pitohui
i hate to say it but the only 911 thing i've seen locally is ray nagin's embarrassing remark that you guys still had a hole in the ground 5 years later

well we got 100,000 holes in the ground 1 year later so it's all whatever it all is

i'm actually v. interested in 911 issues but there are not enough hours in the day at this point and to be honest i thought * was sweeping 911 under the rug

if a fuss is being made about 911, i would say democrats need to be fussing about why in the holy love of jeebus and little fishes have mullah omar and osama bin laden not been arrested for enabling/encouraging this crap?

to be honest, i'm seeing more fuss locally being made about 9/9 when the international hummingbird fest is having its first post-katrina fest

and i don't mean to be cold, one man from mandeville louisiana was killed in windows on the world, another man got a contract renewed to help rebuild the pentagon -- it's like the song, some people drowned in the flood, some got away all right -- there is a 911 memorial from some of the metal in lafayette, louisiana, people here feel things very deeply

people do care here and we do want to know

but we're overwhelmed really and what we're not hearing is -- where the eff is osama? where the eff is mullah omar?

on sept 11 saddam hussein actually tried to donate blood to 911 victims (it was rejected) per our local news cast

no i will never tire of hearing the story of 911 but i DO tire of *co using it to enrich himself
