1. Especially in Tennessee!! |
|
What an idiot.
I can see where that may be typical in parts of California or New York, but I'm guessing the average family in Tennessee makes between 35K and 45K - and that's with two incomes (or at least an income and a half).

9. Such a pity; education was once meant to make one a better person |
|
now it's all about money-grubbing. In fact, EVERYTHING to the Repukes is about money-grubbing. It's disgusting and morally untenable. After all, anyone can make money. It's only a question of what one is willing to do for it. I'm sure there are teenagers on the streets of NYC and LA making $1,000.00 a day, but does this make them admirable people? I would rather flip burgers with a shred of honor than be a successful pimp with a great string of "ho's."

....We just recently moved from Ohio to PA because the part of Ohio we lived in considered $6.50/hr an hour above average and if you had a job that paid $7.50/hr or $8/hr you was considered upper class......

YORK, Maine -- A final draft of what Town Planner Steve Burns calls "a pretty unworkable" work-force housing ordinance will be brought before the selectmen for a public hearing two weeks from today, Sept. 18. <excerpt>
The hearing will cap what has been a particularly gnarly selectmen's review of the ordinance. The ordinance would allow for higher density to make it affordable for its target audience, those earning between $59,000 and $95,000 for a family of four. Selectmen and members of the public have raised many concerns about it, causing the Housing Authority and Burns to go back to the drawing board several times. <excerpt> http://www.seacoastonline.com/news/09042006/mainenews-ph-y-yha.html

17. He probably has stats to back it up too... |
|
since statistics are easy to manipulate. The mean and the median come up with very different numbers. Here is an example if you are interested(from wiki)that shows a mean of $50g and a median of $5.00 using the same data.
Suppose 19 paupers and one billionaire are in a room. Everyone removes all money from their pockets and puts it on a table. Each pauper puts $5 on the table; the billionaire puts $1 billion (that is, $109) there. The total is then $1,000,000,095. If that money is divided equally among the 20 persons, each gets $50,000,004.75. That amount is the mean (or "average") amount of money that the 20 persons brought into the room. But the median amount is $5, since one may divide the group into two groups of 10 persons each, and say that everyone in the first group brought in no more than $5, and each person in the second group brought in no less than $5. In a sense, the median is the amount that the typical person brought in. By contrast, the mean (or "average") is not at all typical, since no one present—pauper or billionaire—brought in an amount approximating $50,000,004.75.
