E&P gets advance of ABC "drama" on 911
You have to read the full thing, but my god, what is Harvey Keitel doing? Anyway, the best part is what E&P says ABC called the film, finally:

“ABC responded Tuesday with a statement saying that the miniseries was ‘a dramatization, not a documentary, drawn from a variety of sources, including the 9/11 commission report, other published materials and from personal interviews.’”

1. So do they drop the "based on 911 commission" bullshit ad?
I doubt it.

Indeed - will Scholastic Mag learning/teaching kits for teachers now be withdrawn since this is fiction?

2. what pisses me off is that middle America will watch this
and assume it is the truth, since they claim it is based on fact.

that sucks.

3. Maybe Not
Despite all the advanced advertising and controversey, it's entirely possible that Mr and Mrs. Joe Public doesn't want to spend their private entertainment time at home re-watching the tragedy of 9/11. Sure, "World Trade Center" did decent business, but was hardly a blockbuster. Not to mention this movie is following both "WTC" and "Flight 93." You also have to take into account what the other networks are counter-programming against it.

5. Dunno, a majority think the 9/11 commission was a whitewash
and, as I recall, it's a sizeable majority.

There may be some Clinton blaming by the stupid, that sort of thing always happens. They're stupid, remember? The people with enough braincells to function outside a church that tells them what to do during every waking moment already doubt this stuff. I don't think a bad made-for-TV-turkey is going to change many minds.

Remember where the political center is now: anti Stupid, wanting out of Iraq, wanting higher wages, wanting national health care, wanting more fiscal responsibility and fairer taxes on the rich and corporate, a change of direction in this country, and an end to the looting of American jobs by multinational corporations and predatory third world countries. Anything to the right of that is right wing. Polling proves it.

8. That's actually funny...
This docudrama will do more to delegitimize the 9/11 commission report than anything the Bush administration could've done on its own.

7. It's worse than I thought.
They make Clinton a coward and a dunce, Bush a hero.

And the guy who wrote it is a Republican political operative.

ABC needs to get buried on this.

9. What a hatchet job on Clinton
Every well-known smear, already debunked fairy tales and some totally NEW fabricated lies. All to make Clinton look bad. Pathetic. When are they going to get over him? The man has been out of power for almost 6 years.

And of course, there's nothing about Bush doing squat about terrorism for 9 months prior to 9/11.

The Hart-Rudman report on a shelf, gathering dust. Cheney never calling a single antiterrorism meeting (it was his project). Even the famous PDB coduldn't prod them into action.

Let's face it, counter-terrorism stopped dead in America in Jan. 2000. Only 9/11 re-awakened it.

10. HOW ABOUT: ".. and contains untruths to lie about Dems and support Repubs"
in an overtly divisive partisan manner of presenting those lies.

About every three minutes during the presentation.

13. This is as good as a footlong hotdog from Coney Island
on a hot summer day.

They are going to attempt to slander one of the most popular presidents ever? Do they have a clue the repercussions this is going to have?

People are going to be stepping around this like a big blob of gum stuck to the sidewalk. They aren't going to buy this bullshit that Clinton wasn't on top of intelligence issues for this nation.

The only thing ABC is going to have is a ratings flop, 33 million dollars wasted, countless blastings of the blatant lies by numerous newpapers and blogs after it airs. And they will cement themselves as a right wing visual media rag.

I assure you, this is going to prove to be a huge regrettable mistake for ABC. Let it roll.
