Should "christian" music be subject to copyright protection?

Just a very simple question, but now with christian pop becoming popular, how adept are they going to be in making sure every penny drops into their pockets and not into nothing?

As a songwriter myself (and I do write some religious themed songs) I would want my music protected. What type of question is this? Good grief.

Pure ignorance. It's music just like anything else. Should Mariah Carey or Faith Hill's music be copywritten? Or any rap artist? Or country? I do mostly country but I do write songs dealing with my faith in God because I like to and if I was to sell my music I would want it copywritten for several reason's:

1) Copywrites give me the right to sing my songs and nobody else stealing them.

2) Music would be my career and how I make money. Selling cd's and doing gigs.

3) Just so someone else can't make money off of my writings. As a writer my writing is the world to me. If you write poetry would you want someone else stealing it?

Again, why should Mariah Carey copywrite her music?

I'm not a Christian artist. I do country but do write about my faith as I like. God is not going to send me to hell for providing for myself. That's my job. God isn't a fairygodparent like in cartoons and can't wave a magic wand. I'm not making money off religion. I'm making money off my music (which I write a lot about but I don't have to answer to you).
