Understand that this speech by Bush is carefully crafted for TV ads and
for media coverage of the script which is filled with "talking points."

1. What is so amusing about this speech is that Saddam could use it
in his own defense with a few changes of names and locations.

2. Like all of Bush's speeches
Hell, all political speeches these days. If you don't think Clinton's people thought about this, you'd probably be wrong.

Of course they weren't promoting a monsterous program of torture and imprsionment.

I would guess there will be at minimum four more of these "very special" speeches between now and November.

5. This speech may just have the opposite
effect of showing the "people" how safe they are with this president. It only stresses how desperate they are now about the mid-term elections. A lot of people buy the crap he is spouting but I would imagine not as many as before. Maybe this administration will learn it is not a very useful tool to cry wolf everytime they want to make a point. This is really pathetic. And what is with MSNBC with "breaking news" prominently displayed on the tube? Hell's bells, it would be breaking news if all of a sudden Shrub said he is retiring. I feel like Alice in Wonderland.

9. The thing is, just who is seeing these anyway?
So the monkey* comes out and screeches for a bit during the day when the majority of america is at work. They do a sound bite on evening news and faux may replay it ten gazillion times, but most people will hear that the chimp* railed about something and go right on with their lives.
