I'm telling you, Garry Trudeau is getting ready to kill Doonesbury's "Ray" |
|
character. Read this week's strips! http://www.doonesbury.com/strip/dailydose/It's going to be sad and infuriating as hell. don't say I didn't warn you! MnFATS

2. That never even occured to me. |
|
It would be extremely upsetting.
(Not to mention that killing off the Black character is like a Hollywood movie.)
I hope Trudeau doesn't do it.

That the "life goes on" line is just a jab at how the state of war has become the state of normalcy under the Bush administration. We are at war, and under the peramaters set by Bush, we will always be at war. War becomes normal, average, like the way Ray's wife had a really bad day. That's commonplace, and so is the war from her perspective. It also hints at the lack of attention people stateside are still paying to what's going on in Afghanistan and Iraq. The media has "moved on", and the majority of the people have moved on with it.
I like Ray's character, and I hope that this isn't setting the stage for his final bow.
