A mother's dying wish to have a home

Posted 9/06/06
BAKERSFIELD - A single-mother with a terminal illness is battling tough hurdles with bravery from her two little boys by her side.

Melissa Smith not only knows her days are numbered, but she is facing them as a homeless single mother. She said taking these blows with courage helps make the most of the precious time she has left.

Smith has Lupus, which is a connective tissue disease that is attacking her whole body. When her doctor told her she had only a maximum of two years to live, Smith was devastated.

"Why me?" Smith said. "Why did God pick me? And what did I do to deserve that, especially after having my two children and thinking I'm not going to be here to see my children live?"

We can't afford to help her, we need more million dollar bombs. Man, is she ever selfish!
:sarcasm:

1. my mother died from this disease
It's truly awful. After her death I heard about a program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in chicago. I wonder if this would be an option for her? They use a patient's own stem cells.

Here's a link to a recent story.

2. What's that t.v. show that helps people with troubled lives? They
rebuild their homes.

Maybe if someone contacted them they could build this woman one. If someone would donate a lot to build it on.

3. Worth a shot
My wife loves that show, I will get the info from her - I rarely watch tv and have no idea usually what is on. I do watch the simpson's daily though after I tivo them :) other then that, tv lost me after Twin Peaks, Picket Fences, and X-Files went away.

PS - if you have some favorite shows worth checking out, pass em along. Gotta be something good on the tube these days (other then science and nature stuff, which is about the only tv I see outside the simpsons, and that is when I am going to sleep).
