Question - How to upload a file and get a URL for it so it's downloadable? |
|
Hi - I have a techie question.
I have a couple of small PDF files (about 100-200k) that I want people on DU to be able to download. I want to be able to upload the file and get a URL for it, so I can put that URL in a post on DU and other people can right-click and download the PDF file.
I've looked at some free file hosting services, but many of them (eg, imageshack) only take image files, and other ones (eg, Yahoo Briefcase, xoom, 4shared) seem too fancy for what I want - they have this whole file-management interface that people have to log into.
I just want to upload file and get a URL for it that I can give to people. Any ideas? Thanks!

I found a site myfilehut.com, I uploaded a PDF there and it gave me a URL. I put the in an email to myself so I could test right-clicking on it, and it downloaded fine.
It seems kinda slow (not sure if it's my internet connection)... Anyways, if anyone has any better sites hosting sites (that also give you a URL for right-click downloading) I'd love to hear from you!
Thanks!

3. I did that a lot with free hosting sites, if it bashes the repugs ... |
|
freepers will eventually get you booted for violating TOS. I got booted from at least 4 or 5.

4. Check with your ISP. You probably have some free web space |
|
as part of your e-mail account with them.
Their help/support area online should give you info on who you can upload stuff to your web space. Less chance of having Freeper complaints about TOS on other hosts that way.
