Latest comeback from freep re "Path to 9/11"...

I have the pleasure of working with a few freepers and about once a week, we chat about politics. These types usually wind up not leaving in a huff but simply using the old familiar cop-out "Well both sides are corrupt so whatcha gonna do?" while they throw up their arms. I am sure we've all dealt with those two.

Anyway, today the whole 9/11 "docudrama" came up in a brief chat over lunch. Since I don't know too much about the thing other than the story about ABC shutting down the blog and the right-wingers behind it, I basically said that I was sort of irritated that they made up a few things (I read the ABC disclaimer as it was posted here and mentioned that they admit that portions are fictitious) and are posing it off as the complete truth, blaming Clinton, making Bush look great, etc. After some back and forth banter, this is what they come up with...

"Well, you guys had that Fahrenheit 9/11 thing!"

Before I could respond, my phone rang. After the call, I was not sure how to reply to this. I know I'll get asked about it Friday when several of us go for martinis after work. I need some kind of ace here that can deliver a stunning verbal blow...

9. That's what I was going to ask. Like a caller Sedar had this evening who

said that 62 things were wrong with F9/11. When Sam asked name 3, the guy couldn't. He just repeated it's been documented that there were 62 errors with F9/11.

I've never had anybody tell me what was an error about F9/11. Mostly, because the people who criticize it have never seen it.

6. no lies in f911. repugs say there are. i ask what. i have never been

told specifically what hte lies are. they say it is full of lies. i ask for one. just give me one. nad they can't. i assume they have never seen it and just going off what rush is saying. f911 is mostly just clip or the persons words so not a lot of places there can be lies. it is a DOCUMENTARY. lol lolnot a dramatization.

You also should ask why the GOP, with a lock on every facet of government for the past 5 years, still has to resort to blaming the Mighty Clenis for all of their shortcomings.

I thought they were the "party of personal responsibility" and were going to bring "ethical government" back to DC...

ABC is owned by Disney. So, ask your lunch mate why is it that they are backing this project yet they distanced themselves from Fahrenheit 9/11 after it was made? At the time they stated they didn't want to appear to be a partisan based company. If this is the case, then why are they backing this project? Why did they spend 30m dollars on this project if they don't want to appear partisan?

8. Fahrenheit 9/11 was an independent film. Everyone knew Moore's

political leanings. ABC is supposed to be "fair and balanced". The comparison is apples and oranges.

Most people know Moore doesn't provide or produces unbiased work.
I'm not saying he doesn't know his stuff, but you can present facts in such a way that they promote a certain idea or opinion.

But, ABC is "mainstream" - there are higher standards for ABCs productions. This is the network where the late Peter Jennings became one of the most respected news figures of the post-Cronkite era. People will think this is unbiased fact, without spin.

That's the difference.

Who played B*sh in F911? And who portrayed Dick Cheney in F911? What writer wrote the line "the haves and the have-mores or as I call you 'my base.'? etc. I always try to keep it as simple as possible in those discussions. You can't exactly put words in someone's mouth when it is THEM on film.
