Numbers for 2nd Nite on CBS News are down from 1st Nite |
|
I just saw these numbers
Last nite the show dropped to 7.0/14 share (down from 9.1/17 share
ABC - 5.3/10 share NBC - 4.9/10 share
I don't know about this stuff but isn't that a pretty big drop for one day?

1. The real numbers will come in when |
|
There is a crisis. We will find out where people will tune in for their news. I doubt people will turn to a soft news anchor like Katie Couric in time of a crisis.

2. Her debut would naturally generate high numbers |
|
because people tuned in out of curiosity.
My guess is that the long term trend will be down.
Oh, they'll watch tonight because they want to see how she handles that fat gasbag Limbaugh.
Everyone else will be anticlimax.

3. I don't understand why she wanted Limbaugh on in the first |
|
place - just for the entertainment value? Why would you do that if you are trying to prove you are a serious newsperson?

4. She's trying to win over his fans. Good, let her have them. Have |
|
you ever noticed no 'serious' news person ever asks for his opinion? That says it all.

5. That's What I Wrote Her |
|
I sent an email to her about that very question. I asked her "Why would a serious journalist request the guest appearance of a guy that: 1) Is a four time divorced drug addict? 2) Who, every time he is confronted with a falsification of fact states he is not an journalist, but an enterntainer? What journalistic ideal is satisfied by having him on the air?"
I haven't heard back, and don't expect to. The Professor

6. Apparently she thinks the Today Show format |
|
of fawning over celebrities is a proper format for the evening news. She's just going to be fawning over politicians and pundits instead of show people.

7. That's what it looks like to me, too. |
|
CBS would have had to back her on this.
Dan Rather may end up having the last laugh. And I hope he does.

8. Maybe she's trying to prove that CBS doesn't have a liberal bias. |
