I wrote an email to ABC News
No, not about that. About their report last night on Chimpy's confession to torturing and wrongfully imprisoning people all over the world. During the report, ABC helpfully ran some footage of waterboarding, sort of a how-to video. Then Charlie came back and talked with Georgie and some other guy to genially discuss the finer points of torture, open-ended imprisonment without charge or counsel, and what a strong leader George W. Bush is. So I wrote them this morning:

Dear Folks:

I watched your report on the West Coast Edition of ABC News about President Bush's confession that he had authorized illegal detention and torture of people he suspects may be terrorists. Included in your report was footage of a person being subjected to waterboarding. Your anchor and two correspondents then came on and genially informed me that there was some dispute about whether waterboarding constituted torture.

I humbly suggest that the next time ABC runs such a fatuous segment, it subject one of its executives to waterboarding by a professional, government torturer (the higher placed, the better), and then that executive can tell us all what an enjoyable experience he just had.

It's appalling enough that my tax dollars are being spent to torture people. It's compounded by how-to video footage on a broadcast network program. And then to be told by your smiling announcers that the question of whether this actually constitutes torture is the final insult. Shame on our government. Shame on you. I'm ashamed to live in such a country where the government and the media are so dismissive of human rights. What sort of outrage will you conjure up the next time an American is subjected to torture? Because it should not be heard.

1. Our news media suffers from "banality of evil"
They just report things like they are nothing when they are serious crimes.

2. No reply yet
Not even an acknowledgement. I guess torture videos and presidential law-breaking are A-OK at the Holy Rodent Empire.
