Well, we are certainly giving ABC a shitload of FREE publicity... |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 11:08 AM by Beelzebud
Even bad publicity is good publicity.
I really wish Clinton hadn't sent that letter.
All it's going to do is give ABC free publicity, and more ppl will watch it.
This is basic stuff here folks...

1. As with all these DU manias, one starts to wonder how many |
|
threads is too many threads. And I think we passed the "too many" mark on four different subjects this week: ABC/911, Katie C, Steve Irwin and (sorry, Beezlebud) Mike Malloy.
But then I started one of the ABC/911 threads, so I'm in no position to complain.

to not come down hard and fast on the Swift Boat slime. That worked out well, didn't it.
I understand your point, but I believe in the long run that sometimes you have to step up and tell the truth. Otherwise this shit is going to go into our schools and be taught as history.

3. no. bad publicty is only good when youre unknown and |
|
any publicity enhances visibility.
abc is universal. they have a reputatation to worry about. this will hurt abc because it panders to an angry minority and the vast majority know this lying propaganda is agenda and politic driven.

To reveal to those who don't know there really is a "vast right wing conspiracy" and the Right has a monopoly on the media. Viewers won't be so easily duped now, and this could be the big break we've been waiting for.

6. We are not supplying 'free publicity'... We are 'defusing propaganda'. |

A necessary task these days.

8. I'm GLAD Clinton sent that letter, and I hope he SUES |

AmericaBlog has a GREAT riff on this issue, to include the LEGAL aspect--Clinton has a case for defamation. You don't air something without giving the party you are smearing a chance to refute and correct, especially when they have ASKED for that opportunity and been DENIED it. http://americablog.blogspot.com/All of his coverage on this issue has been superb; these are a few of his headlines and highlights: http://americablog.blogspot.com/2006/09/bill-clinton-weighs-in-and-hes-not.html Bill Clinton weighs in -- and he's NOT happy

11. Oh yes, let's not say anything . . . |
|
Because it will give free publicity to a major network intent on doing a hatchet job on recent history and selling it as "fact." Ssssshhhh, quiet everybody! Maybe it will go away and unlike so many prior examples, it won't be used as a club to beat us over the head with. No, not this time. I think the GOP will finally not stoop to dirty tricks and tactics, and they'll play scrupulously fair.
You'd have to believe in Tinker Bell awfully hard for that not to happen, methinks.

13. It couldn't possibly get more publicity than it already has. |
|
I'm relieved Clinton sent that letter. If he hadn't, if he just let them roll all over the truth (his truth, too) the world would decide that ABC got all right.
