"Path to 9-11" writer calls self "a conservative Michael Moore" |
|
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Cyrus_NowrastehWell, well.... the author of this tripe, Cyrus Nowrasteh, is a self-confessed, anti-Micheal Moore (partisan) conservative who fancies himself a "story-teller". Cyrus Nowrasteh is a Persian-American who was born in Boulder, Colorado, and grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. <1> (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0637493/) His "family had to flee Iran when it was taken over by Islamic fundamentalists." <2> (http://www.libertyfilmfestival.com/libertas/index.php?p=462)
Nowrasteh "attended New Mexico State University on a tennis scholarship, but later transferred to U.S.C. to study in their renowned School of Cinema."
Among his most recent writing and producing credits are "The Path to 9/11" (2006 Docudrama), a 6-hour miniseries to be shown September 10 and 11, 2006, on ABC, and "Into the West" (2005), a TV miniseries. Other credits include the Paramount/Showtime production The Day Reagan Was Shot (2001); Showtime's 10,000 Black Men Named George (2002); "the independent 1996 Sundance hit, The Interview, "Nikita" (1997) (which was "the pilot for the hit USA Network series, La Femme Nikita), and the adaptation of Alan Dershowitz's novel, The Advocate's Devil (1997) (TV) for ABC." <3> (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0637493/bio)
On Michael Moore
"To quote Team America, he’s an out of control socialist weasel (laughs). Listen. I’m probably more of a libertarian than a strict conservative. In my writing and directing, I don’t want to just be a conservative version of Michael Moore. I’m here to tell a good story first and foremost - and that’s why I can navigate the networks and get my work produced."—Interview, June 9, 2005. <4> (http://www.libertyfilmfestival.com/libertas/index.php?p=462)

2. They just can't help LYING |
|
While Moore may stretch the truth from time to time (editing clips and doing mockups of newspapers), his films are factually correct.
The right doesn't seem to know the difference between fact and belief, between documentary and propaganda.
That's part of what makes them so dangerous.

First of all, Moore's film didn't utilize publicly-owned airwaves to capture an audience. People who have seen F9/11 either paid for a ticket, paid for pay-per-view or a movie channel that showed it, or rented it. That's quite a big difference in and of itself, but it's not the biggest one. The biggest difference between this fictionalized account and F9/11 is that F9/11 relied on video footage of actual Bush administration members, and others, saying the things that they actually said. Moore wove those into a narrative that illustrated his personal point of view, which you may find objectionable, but he didn't make anything up, as did the producers of this hit piece. Which is probably why the million dollar bounty for anyone who can find any inaccuracy or lie in Moore's film has gone unclaimed.

Couldn't Michael Moore get Fahrenheit 9/11 televised? What network would carry it? It just seems quid pro quo.

9. Yes, and the point is he's a RW partisan trying to legitimize |
|
propaganda by claiming it's true to the 9-11 commission report.

that statement alone makes him the polar opposite of Moore, not just in political terms, but in ethical terms ...
I hate to say it, but I thought the Into the West series was pretty good ...

13. Have any facts from Fahrenheit 9/11 been honestly refuted or debunked? |
|
I'm sure some disagree with Moore's opinions, but I don't recall any of his actual facts being proven wrong?
