I caught Peter L. Bergen on CSPAN2 earlier today.
He wrote a book entitled "Holy War, Inc: Inside the Secret World of Osama bin Laden". During the QNA part of the program, a gentleman asked about the "Bin Laden being handed over on a silver platter" story that has circulated. Mainly being spewed by Hannity.

Well, Mr. Bergen said that that was totally false! He said, if the Sudan had handed Bin Laden over, he could not have been held for anything because he had not committed any crimes at that time.

He also said that what the Sudan had offered had nothing to do with Osama, it had something to do more with something religious (couldn't quite make it all out, dealing with a teething 8 month old).

I found this to be very interesting, this is the first time I have ever heard someone refute this so strongly. I just wish someone would confront Hannity with this information, and shut him up!

1. Sounds good
I'm glad that he told what a lie that was. Clinton would've been doing something illegal if he did that with BinLadin. Is the book out now and will this be on the archives? I'd love to watch.

6. True, because Hannity is an obsessive compulsive, imo. He was on
Air America about a year ago. He had told his ditto heads that he was going to 'debate' those 'lieberals'. It was the Jeanne Garafolo show. She was quiet, not wanting talk to him. I think it was Sam Seder who was the other host. As soon as Hannity realized that his rhetoric was going to be seriously challenged, he practically cried. He was very upset that Jeanne wasn't interested in him at all.

After a while, he was literlly unable to handle the situation. He is used to being unchallenged and to being able to repeat, obsessively, his talking points. His frustration was pathological when he was not allowed to get away with it there, and he ended up storming out of the studio. No one really was surprised. He was so like a frustrated child, one who has a low frustration level, that I actually felt sorry for him. He NEEDS the security of 'secure' place, where his oddities are catered to.

A lot of these people have serious psychological problems. I concluded after that show, that he is programmed. He really does believe his own 'reality' and he is genuinely distressed when people don't see the world the way he does. He is a narcissist and is totally incapable of accepting that he could be wrong. I felt that his distress was genuine.

I also felt that he is 'programable' and is only happy when he has a set of rules he can rely on. Independent thinking would cause him to feel insecure. I also wondered if he could have been programmed differently, had his environment been different. I think he probably could have and he would have been equally rigid in the opposite direction.

8. *lol* ~ That's a good one!
I used to watch Peter Bergen and Judith Miller before 9/11 and thought both were very credible experts on terrorism. He did an interview with Osama Bin Laden, which I remember seeing in a documentary. I remember wondering how he managed to do that without the CIA finding out about it and following him, since Osama was on the terror list at the time, as I recall.

I did fall for Judy's game but now realize that all her reporting was setting us up for the big lie. I wonder about Peter now too.

5. Hannity doesn't care if it's true or not ...
he knows if he says it over and over again - which he has - people will believe him - and they do.

I have heard the phrase "on a silver platter" repeated over and over again from the sheep on Washington Journal, etc.

Dems just don't have the stomach to be so juvenile. Too bad because it works.
