Democrats say intelligence report on Iraq will show Bush lied about threat

. . . but republicans want to block sections which show Bush's deception until after the election. There needs to be a firestorm of protest over this!

Senate to issue Iraq intelligence report

By JIM ABRAMS, Associated Press Writer 24 minutes ago

The Senate intelligence committee on Friday will issue a report, two years in the making, that Democrats on the panel say will prove that misuse of intelligence played a role in the Bush administration's decision to go to war in Iraq.

"Ultimately, I think you will find that administration officials made repeated prewar statements that were not supported by underlying intelligence," said Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., top Democrat on the committee.

Rockefeller said the report reveals that "the administration pursued a deceptive strategy abusing intelligence reporting that the intelligence community had already warned was uncorroborated, unreliable and in some critical circumstances fabricated."

The information to be released Friday includes only two of the less controversial parts of the five studies under that Phase II. Rockefeller said a third part, on the prewar intelligence assessment of postwar Iraq, could be issued later this month.

Partisan differences have delayed release of any analysis on the more politically sensitive issue of how administration officials used intelligence. "We continue our work on the remaining part of our Phase II inquiry," said committee chairman Sen. Pat Roberts (news, bio, voting record), R-Kan.

2. Phase II FINALLY? Oooh, this will be good if they don't
figure out a way to postpone the release of the report again. Makes perfect sense that they'd want to hold off on this damning info until after November. I hope Dems scream bloody murder if they try.

3. Where's Aaron Brown when you need him?
I remember when he helped jumpstart the 9/11 Commission by attacking Hastert on air one night.

5. When this goes public, the White House will have no spin left
And any Congressman or Senator who doesn't support impeachment doesn't deserve his seat.

10. Bush lied, thousands died.
Fabricated. Lied. Bush knew. Then he pretended he didn't know.

11. I don't understand, why did they hold this back
don't they have a duty, a sworn duty to protect and defend the constitution, isn't there a
statement in the Preamble to promote the General Welfare of the Country, so why did they
go along with this?
