Idiocracy (film being quietly murdered by Fox)
My good buddy sent this to me:

The one movie I've been anticipating seeing since I heard of its
development a couple of years ago is being quietly murdered by Fox--I
reckon because it's an invective against the very type of diarrhea
that Fox wants our culture to swim in on a daily basis. Because
that's how my mind works.

The movie is "Idiocracy," Mike Judge's new dystopian portrait of our
culture in a couple hundred years. It may be more "yuk
factor"-oriented than, say, a PKD story--this is Mike Judge after
all--but I fully expect it to give me that feeling of indignant
appreciation that I so blithely mistake for humor.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to tell all your
friends in the 7 cities where it is playing to go see it. Because
they're your friend, and I'm your friend, they are guaranteed to like
it, or at least not hate it, or I'll personally refund their ticket.

Idiocracy is playing in: Austin, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles,
Atlanta, Chicago, and Toronto.
(I guess Fox figures Texans know
Judge's name.)

2. In another lifetime
Mike used to work with my husband at a Texas radio station. Mike was going to UNT at the time and working parttime on the weekends. Who would have ever known?
He is truly a very nice guy.

6. The movie is about the dummying down of America
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 06:25 PM by IChing
An average guy is put to sleep by the military and wakes up to find he is the smartest man in the country.

I posted on this two weeks ago on fox not allowing it to play or even giving money to help finish the movie
Robert Rodriguez the famous independent director from Texas helped finance the movie and did the FX for free

edited because I'm a dummy and spelled the word wrong.

7. In a related topic, Milton Waddams from Office Space
(the stapler guy, who's also in Idiocracy) plays Richard Clarke in the road to 9/11 movie. I guess they wanted the most authoritative actor they could get. He's good, don't get me wrong, but they've probably got Clarke slouching around the White House looking for his stapler in that stupid crapumentary.
