How many more years would the Repubs need to destroy this country? |
|
Just thinking...If there were 3rd Party candidates (someone like a Lieberman maybe) that could split the Democratic Party and permit the Repubs to remain in power for maybe 8 or 10 more years, do you think we could survive that? Would we be in civil war? Would we be more broke than Bangladesh? Would we have any military power to speak of? Would we still be the "super power" in the world? Would everyone have good paying jobs? Would your taxes be low?

You get to keep your head. Of course, the Repubs may accuse us of spreading "fear"..

6. I don't think they want to give up any seats. And given Denny's record |
|
in CA 50th (swearing in Bilbray in the midst of a controversial election seven days old), I think that they'll pull out all the stops.
That's why everybody and his brother has to show up at the polls. If they try their tricks, there will be huge numbers "in the know" and we'll get some real civic action going.

W. could certainly finish the job with his remaining time if he's allowed to. The political landscape has been shifted so far to the extreme-right now that the country's pretty much on life support, give W the remaining two years and he'll gleefully pull the plug.

They've done a better job destroying our industrial base than the 8th Air Force did on the Germans.

Napoleon will take over and end the failed state with military flourish, and before its over, we'll have a new constitution.

That's how long Brezhnev was in power in the Soviet Union. That should give you an idea how long it takes to do a real number on a superpower.
Like Bush, Brezhnev was a dummy who thought highly of himself. While the Frat Boy likes to dress up like a fly boy, Brezhnev liked to dress up like a hero. He had so many medals on his jacket it's a wonder he didn't get a hernia putting it on. Of course, he awarded most of those medals to himself.

15. He was a big spender on the military |
|
Under Brezhnev, more and more of the national budget was allocated to defense spending. He absolutely loved the military and had many friends in the war machine. By the 1980s, defense spending in the USSR consumed over a tenth of the nation's GDP per year. Everything else was made into a secondary priority. As a result, living standards worsened towards the end. Corruption siphoned even more money away.

Brezhnev did a real number on a superpower. It had to have been some of the worst government since Louis XV (to name another Frat Boy prototype).
