Do YOU want MALLOY back on the air? |
|
I know I do.
I just finished listening to Mike on the Guy James Show today. Here's the link to the MP3 (copy and paste this one):
server2.whiterosesociety.org/content/james/JamesShow-(7-9-2006).mp3 (Mike's on for a little more than the first half hour of the show)
If that's not working (I had some problems before), here's a link someone sent me of the mp3 with only the interview:
http://venus.walagata.com/w/billyshearsno9/Mike_The_Horn.mp3
Anyway, he said that he, Kathy, and Molly are in NYC right now. He sounded in good spirits also. :) The reason he is in NYC is because he had some meetings with SIRIUS and others. He didn't mention who the "others" were. He also said he will never go back to AAR. So given the few facts that we know for sure now, it seems pretty clear that at least one thing we can do to help get Mike back on the air is:
CALL AND WRITE TO SIRIUS
At this point, other than letting them know JUST HOW BAD THEY SCREWED UP , if the goal is to get Mike back on the air, calling AAR is pretty much a futile act. This has all been said before, people were speculating, rumors were going around, he said it on the Christine Craft show, but when Randi came back from vacation and she sounded so determined and hopeful about getting him back on his night slot at AAR, it kind of threw the whole situation up for question again... "Maybe he would come back?" "I guess it can't hurt to try." "What else can I do?" But on Guy's show today, he pretty much cleared that up.
Since he met with SIRIUS today, now is the time to start calling and writing THEM in a BIG way. If they just met with Mike, this could possibly be a crucial time. They may be weighing the pros and cons right now, looking at their options, and JUST IN CASE they don't FULLY understand yet how much it would benefit THEM to make Mr. Malloy a generous offer, here's a chance to let them know how many listeners they stand to gain. Maybe they already know that, I don't know. Mike didn't get into any details like that in the interview. But I think we all know now that where the PRINCE OF DARKNESS is concerned, it's probably a good idea not to take ANYTHING for granted.
I realize he said he was also in meetings with others, but he didn't say who the others are. So since for now, what we DO know of is SIRIUS, it seems like a good place to start focusing on. AAR has received some 18,000 emails, around 12,000 phone calls, who even knows how many XM has received, but if we could put out anything even close to that kind of an effort with SIRIUS, it could really help to make up their minds (if they are not made up already).

1. Well, I'd love to have Mike back on the air. |
|
Unfortunately, I don't have Sirius Satellite radio, and since I'm so poor I can't even pay attention right now, I wouldn't get to hear him. However, I DO want him back on the air, so I hope he works something out real soon!
GO MIKE!!!!

I've done my petition-signing, my emails to Air America, and my emails to XM (also, phone calls).
Now, I'll focus upon Sirius.
I'm one of those who had Sirius, and who switched to XM (portable unit). I might buy a portable Sirius unit also. Then my hubby and I can switch back and forth.
On edit:
Thanks for the post. I listened, and I think I'm now a Guy James fan also.

7. K&R. Let's get Malloy back on. |
|
So what if AAR doesn't want him? There are plenty of syndicators, satellite radio channels and even local stations that can carry him.

9. He did say he was talking to some other people also... |
|
Maybe XM was one of them. I was just going by what he DID disclose. I'm sure there's plenty that he didn't regarding whatever he may have in the works.

10. Very good idea. I think Sirius could easily win here |
|
Sirius has shown it likes having exclusive "talent", even to the point of having worthless shits like Alex Bennett and Lynn Samuels, so they might make a reasonable offer. If they do, the fact that Sirius gave Howard Stern a home, not everyone's cup of tea but certainly not the FCC's, has demonstrated they'll give the talent a lot of latitude even in the face of adversity. That environment may swing the scales in Sirius's favor.
XM still has a chance, but finding the right place for him, in addition to the fact that XM is already in bed with what is now "the enemy", isn't a plus.
(I don't think I have a dog in this fight, ultimately. I already have Sirius, but I'll probably be forced into getting XM for my business, which may amuse Rosco T to no end :) )
