Ted Koppel was on Charlie Rose tonight....wow

Talking about the loss of our liberties and if we are prepared to give up these things we cherish permanently. "To stay safe, should we get rid of cars". He is talking about how all the lawyers tried to define torture and how wrong it is. He says our values have been tarnished in the views of many of our allies.
I hope someone got this on tivo.

12. I really miss him. Nightline has become a joke

IMHO, that's partly responsible for the success of Colbert. Lotsa old Nightline fans now watch Colbert.

he said he wishes them well and said that they got what they wanted--a younger audience. Sigh. I guess that's why it's so boring to me now--I'm a boomer.

15. I have my doubts about Koppel. When he left Nightline, which

was already filtered and diluted with rightwing views, he urged Nightline viewers to continue watching Nightline because if they didn't journalism would disappear. His replacements were a joke--a worse group could not have been imagined with Martin Bashir of Michael Jackson expose sensationalism anchoring the show. Koppel seemed to sit on the fence a lot and his views leaned right IMHO.
