Why does Al Qaeda want the Bushists to remain in power?

This should be a question on every voter's mind when they go to the polls in November.

So al Qaida -- or what's left of it -- releases a five-plus year old tape of bin Laden with two of the 9/11 hijackers as well as Ramzi Binalshibh, one of the baddies just transfered to Gitmo. Right in time for the president's big kangaroo court role out.

If you didn't know that bin Laden and Bush were the two polar opposites in the global battle between good and evil, you'd think the two were coordinating their media blitzes.

And on the subject of al Qaida, don't miss James Fallows piece on bin Laden and Co. in the current issue of The Atlantic. Good stuff.

1. You have to ask?
Because the US Army is radicalizing Afghans and Iraqis against the West and its allies in the Middle East a little more each and every day. While Iraqi nationalists might cheer if the US withdrew from Iraq tomorrow, Al Qaeda strategists would mourn; it'd put a bottom line under the pain being inflicted on America.

2. In an Asymmetrical War
One of the objectives that the combatant that is engaging the stronger opponent seeks to achieve is the over-reaction by the stronger opponent. Al Qaeda knows that the Bush regime can be counted on to use nukes to swat flies. Therefore; the Al Qaeda strategy stands a chance of achieving the objective of over-reaction.

4. This is what the 1% Doctrine has wrought.
The Bushists, in their native obliviousness, thinking their constant terror alerts over nothing have made them appear tough and uncompromising, have actually looked like an elephant at the mercy of a horsefly.

6. Just 'great' recruiting?
They are recruiting a heck of a lot faster than our military is getting recuits in this country.

5. They have the same goal, too:
to scare the living shit out of Americans.

If that doesn't show that they're actually on the same side, I don't know what does.

8. Because they, like the Bush administration, hate America?
Hmm...
