The 9/11 propaganda piece... maybe it's just me?

I'm not certain everyone at DU realizes what a momentous day Sunday, September 10, 2006 is:

The Official Kickoff of the NFL season.

For the first time, Sunday Night Football will be shown on "free-vee" NBC, instead of ESPN.

I may be going out on a limb here, but I'll wager that the Colts-Giants matchup will kick the ratings stuffing out of that fluff docudrama on ABC.

This afternoon, at the restaurant where I work, CNN reported that Bush will make an address to the nation at 9:00 pm on Monday, September 11. Two of my customers looked at each other and said, "OMG, that better not fuck up Monday Night Football, it's supposed to be a double-header fer chrissakes!"

It won't, I assured them. Monday Night Football's on ESPN now. :-)

EDIT: Ahhh, I see I am not the only one to realize this. My apologies.

1. This movie is like when they used to serve up fluff for the wives
on competing channels, knowing full well that while the majority of male viewers will be tuned in to the football, that still leaves half their audience wanting something -- anything -- entertaining to watch. This was the one night the remote-control commander was guaranteed pre-occupied with his little game, so the non-sporties were free to watch anything they damned well pleased (on the little 13" set in the guest room). But instead of 80's era desperate housewives sipping white wines over the Chick Flick Of The Week, you have a whole new audience who just doesn't give a shit about football, and has 127 other channels to turn to.

This movie might just fill a particular niche of "who gives a shit-ers."
